The first pic is and 290 handle and the last two are from a 390
handle should be pretty close as to your 029

Have had those brass clip give me some fits from time to time
with 026. Make sure there is good contact with the clip on the
kill wire. Some times they just need a little tweak with needle
nose to get them back right.

Thinking the clip in back is under the the switch part on this
       one. Will check another day.
       Thanks for posting up pics.

You are right could be behind it or up above the the switch
shaft and over the kill wire

To cool thats all it was even with the half throttle staying
open. Never seen one stay half throttle due to the assembly
       switch being out of kilter.
The clip was under the assembly switch as shown in pic. This
caused half throttle at start, choke not working properly and
stop switch not work all due to that clip. :o The on/off I
understand, but the half throttle I still dont see how it should
       effect that but it did.
Otherwise the saw checks out and is a great deal for the guy for
       $50.
       9 chains done too. :-X :-\ :P

Do you hand file or grind their chains?

I grind chains that come in like this. Were talking nasty and
       all out of wack.
Stihl USG has paid for itself.

       029 is 45mm piston, 029Super and MS290 46mm. PITA saws had to
replace oil line in one yesterday have to take carry handle off
to replace it. After that it's easy.
