       No more Red Max saws?
       By: Spike60 Date: January 29, 2014, 7:18 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Apparently, corporate has decided to discontinue Red Max branded
saws; both the Zenoah stuff as well as the re-labeled Huskys.
Logic behind this is that with the Red Max distributors now also
having Jonsered, there's little sense in putting further effort
       into the Red Max brand.
Makes sense to me. I know they have some fans on forums like
this, but they never made the slightest dent in the real world
saw market. Still, it's always a downer when a brand exits the
       market.

I have had a gz4000 for 7 years and it has been a very good saw.
Most Redmax dealers in this area have only had the trimmers and
blowers, even thought the small engine shop that is about 3
miles away has carried the saws for about 3years.

Basically JMO they have done to RedMax what they have done in
the past to many others. Buy up get their technology, strip
       them.
Just a few off the top of my head. Partner, Poulan, Jonsereds,
       Skil, Jobu, Pioneer.

It is just a sign of the corporate world and global marketplace.
Get used to it because it isn't going to change. JMO
However I do agree that it is a shame!

You guys are right, but..................they weren't selling.
No business case can be made that they should be kept around.
Of all the brands Kevin listed, including my favorite Jonsered,
it's fair to ask how many would have survived to this day on
their own. Perhaps none. I doubt any of them were strong both
financially and in market share. Look at some of the saws that
Jonsered was coming out with between the classic 70E era stuff
and the buy out. Hardly saws that make anyone's favorites list.
Would what happened to Homelite or McCulloch have been a better
       fate?

Spike60 +1. The reason most corporate takeovers happen or are
even financially feasible is that the target company is weak
financially, in brand recognition and market share.Perhaps I
will be able to find a 7000 on the cheap, LOL!

Have never seen a redmax saw or any other of their products in
person only on the internet. It is always fun to have some what
of a no name saw that will go out and spank guys that say what
is that thing, looks like a p.o.s

It could surface again as a house brand: like Homelite,
McCulloch, etc. Would have been better if they had given it to
       TSC and kept Jonsered 'clean'.

My question is if the Zenoah brand is being discontinued, or if
it is just the US (or is it North America?) specific RedMax
       brand?

I'm betting just the Redmax brand in US. Hopefully Zenoah brand
stays around for overseas markets at least.
