       MS-270C

       ---------------------------------------------------------
I bought this MS-270C at a yard sale for next to nothing. Guy
said it wouldn't run. It wouldn't stay fired. I replaced the
fuel line and pulled the needle valves shooting carb cleaner
into what little I could get to.
I got it to run, sort of, but it did something I've never seen.
I had the tach on it and I took it up to 11,500 and then when I
released the trigger, it stayed on the high jet. Rpms only came
down to 9500 or so. It stayed like that for a minute or so then
came down on the low jet for a little while and then cut off. I
thought "Air Leak" at first. But, subsequent trials it would
idle, sort of, and come off the high speed jet. Then, one more
       try, it stuck up high.
I suspect this guy stored the saw with ethanol gas and gummed
stuff up. Before I hit it with Gumout I couldn't really get it
to run more than a second or two.
I'm not a great carb kit guy. But, this sounds like a great
candidate as opposed to a whole new carb. The Stihl dealer
       quoted me $84 for a replacement. Stihl 1133 120 0604. It's a
Walbro and the marks I see are 21-477.
So, two things, has anyone seen this before? Second, there's a
million kits floating out there for less than half of the $33
the dealer quoted. Can someone steer me towards a model number
on the Walbro so I can get the correct kit?
       Thanks,
       Ray

Should be a Walbro HD-33. Walbro repair kit # K10-HD. Diaphragm
gasket kit D10-HD. You should be able to get a kit for around 12
dollars or so. Hope this helps.

I also see this carb uses an accelerator pump, I wonder if that
might be your problem. Others here may know better than I do,
       on that.

I don't think the accelerator pump is your problem. So don't
mind my last post. Have you checked all your throttle linkage.

Thank you for the info. Good question on the throttle linkage.
I think it's ok. But, it's definitely worth checking.
       Thanks again.

That series of saw has weak AV mounting, which prematurely leads
to a torn intake boot and/or impulse hose.
Here is what you need to do:
       1) Completely rebuild or replace carburetor
       2) Replace intake boot if necessary upon complete inspection
       (will require fuel tank removal).
       3) While the tank has been removed, replace impulse hose.
       4) Replace fuel pick up hose and filter
       5) Inspect AV buffers and replace if necessary

I thought about the impulse line before I tinkered with it
based on the seller's description. But I couldn't see it.
Under the tank. Figures. What you're saying makes perfect
       sense. Thanks a million.
Does any one have a parts listing for this saw please?

Go to the media cat thread in the service manual section and get
a copy for your self. I have it. But don't know how to get it to
       you.
