Dolmar 119
By: 3000 FPS Date: December 12, 2012, 4:12 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
So this is my latest Dolmar that I have aquired. I did not
have any spark when I got it and finally found a donor saw with
a good ignition for a resonable price. The muffler was beat
pretty bad so once again I used the one off the donor saw as
with some of the antivibration buffers. The muffler was dented
pretty good with weld on the outside all around the mounting
screws where it had started to crack. So I ground all the old
weld off knocked the dents out and welded it from the inside so
it would not show. I also removed the old stock outlet and put
in a double pipe. The baffle on the inside I cut away about
half of it and put a spark screen around the baffle because I
will use this in National Forest land and it is required. Saw
runs excellant and just thought I would show the MM.

I know very little about the older sachs dolmar. So I had to
look up to see cc size.

Once again not a high revving engine but lots of torque with
good compression in these saws.

compared to 3400 3700 4000?
I ran that 6000i 660mag has and it was a most impressive beast
in the cut.

I owned a 119. It was one of the strongest 60cc saw i ever
owned. But it was on the heavy side.

Well the 119 is all magnesium including the filter cover. So
you are right it is on the heavey side, but when I get to the
point I cannot lift one of them, maybe it would be time to give
it up anyways.
I have never ran a Poulan 4000 but I have my 3700 and 395 and I
believe it would outcut the 3700 and close to the 395. It was
common to find the Dolmar 119 with 170 to 190 PSI from the
factory. The Poulan saws do not run that kind of compression
unless you drop the cylinders in them. Another thing is the
Dolmar is a closed port cylinder and the Poulans are open port.
A side by side test would be interesting.

For reference, here are some pictures of my 6000iH taken by
cut4fun. The saw is 60cc completely original and is identical in
looks to the 6800i. The 6000/6800 came out in 1997 and were a
redesign of the 116Si and 120Si. It is a sweetheart to cut with.
The green Poulan seen in one of the pictures is a 1997 3500 60cc

So how close is the 119 and the 6000i ? I only know the 6000i
Jim had at my place to compare to.
