I've run one that has been gone through. They have surprising
power and rev quite high.

Oh they made a big deal about it ,something like 14,000 RPM .I
suppose they thought it was something for time but I've got
some 10 series that will crank on at over 15,000 .
That said though a very interesting design .

Now I kind of wonder what the real reason was they abandoned
that design .Supposidley it was because of fear the throttle
could stick and engine blow up like a stick of tnt .
I'm not sure that theory is really why and the reason being
even that long ago they knew about zener diodes that break down
on a reverse bias voltage build up .
Any magneto at speed produces a higher voltage as RPMs' increase
until point of coil saturation .I should have thought they could
have built a limiting coil if they really had wanted to
.It'simple ,once you cut off the spark the engine can only run
as fast as the spark can get there .
I doubt we'll ever know the real reason because anybody involved
with it has long ago went to the here after .So it will remain
as the never answered question .
