This makes sense: audiences are no longer satisfied with
half-baked characters for a movie's talented supporting cast
while the leads or only one of their characters have been
developed so well.
AS received similar criticism for the scripting of Nazriya's
character.

Agree with that article. Very weak storyline, not gripping at
all. And the focus shouldn’t have been solely on Vennela’s
character although the story was told from her POV. The climax
scene was indeed not that impactful.
The best scenes and bgm were used in the teaser and trailer. The
movie had nothing much to offer, except the father daughter
bidding good bye to each other. The dilemma was well portrayed.

With a good script, there is every chance it will not suffer the
same fate as VP.
The Nambi Effect is receiving similar criticism as VP: single
powerful character; not enough oxygen for the rest.

There are a lot of political agendas as well.. But right now,
families / friends want to go to the theater to laugh, enjoy and
have fun. What they need is a pakka commercial mindless and mass
entertainer to forget their own worries post the covid. Offbeat
movies won’t work for now. That’s why I’m a bit worried for
Gargi.
SP should do both commercial and offbeat movies so that she can
build a strong fanbase, she needs both.

What Gargi has in its favour for a commercial sanity check are
Jyothika and Surya. The politics will eventually blow ever. A
lot can happen in the world between now and the release of
Gargi.
