Many instances of Witch hunts are fulled by old superstitions
and the coercion of fear in large groups of people. When things
seem desperate and the people need some form/ answer to the "why
us" question, what is known as black magic and witches is
usually the easy answer. According to the article, classes of
understanding how some things are accruing in the community is a
good step but unfortunately some things that are taught in the
bible are counter productive. Cultural remedies passed down
through generations are become signs of witchcraft inciting fear
of the old ways and the elderly in some situations. In cases
where a family member claims a relative to be a witch it is
usually out of greed. History has many examples of family
accusing family in order to get what they have. --> "Uncle John
has a better house than us and his animals are healthy while
ours are sick. He must be a witch! The whole family in fact".
Once they are removed, legally, their relatives inherit their
property.
