Do you think Federer's retirement is imminent? What can we
possibly expect from him in 2014? Let's discuss that.

I think he was pretty disappointed with the results in 2013.
so he has made some changes:
       1. he removed his coach from the facilities
       2. he started trying new racquets
all indication is that he wants to come back a lot stronger in
2014. his best results at a slam are likely to come at
       Wimbledon.
there is no question he still has the game. what he does not
have is the consistency, fitness, and the confidence.
he needs all three so there is much work to be done in the off
       season.

       Agree on all points.
The fact is Roger Federer is 32 years old. He has lost a step,
as they say, and will never regain it. It's only natural. It's
not a failing on his part, I mean.
Sure, he could have a better 2014. That wouldn't surprise me, if
only because it would be hard to get any worse than 2013. As you
know I'm a huge Rafa fan, but my No. 2 guy is Federer. I would
love for him to improve next year, so I'm hoping the coaching
and racquet changes yield positive benefits.

       excellent points general tented.
the sport really needs all big 4 to be healthy, fit, and ready
       for 2014.
Federer is not an ordinary 32 year old. he has some weapons
       which others cannot boast.
and he has all that variety.
we may even have the big 5 now. del potro is coming on strong as
       he showed us this year.
at any rate I am expecting Federer to do significantly better in
2014 which should delight his fans across the globe.

In my honest opinion, it's easy to like Federer if you are a
Nadal fan. Nadal basically owns Federer and he's no threat to
him by any means. Even I sometimes root for Federer against
Nadal because of it and sometimes I think it isn't even fair. If
the rivalry was more even then perhaps it wouldn't have been so
       easy.
I am actually more indifferent to Federer these days than ever
before. I used to not like him as much because I found him a bit
arrogant, but my feelings are more neutral these days. Sometimes
I even feel sorry for him because he's declining and we'll
probably never see him again, so that's always sad to see when a
great player goes away. I can relate because Pete's retirement
was one of the hardest things Sampras fans had to go through.

I had the pleasure to meet Federer a couple of times. This
summer he came to the tennis club close to my home. After that I
understood him better why he seem arrogant to some.
I think he just tries to avoid talking about others and end up
talking about himself. Maybe he is afraid that people will
misunderstand him and say he talk badly about others.
He is very popular here in London. Rafa is also very popular
here. I know so many people who have no problem liking them
       both.
Federer will be missed badly when he retires. I try not to think
       about it. Makes me sad..

Yeah, I believe both Federer and Nadal are quite popular in the
       UK.

Yeah, I believe both Federer and Nadal are quite popular in the

And now Andy more and more popular too! He melted the british
hearts after he lost Wimbledon last year.
Andy must be the most interesting player out there, so
       articulate, smart and funny.

They should take a vote and find out who's the most popular!
After Wimbledon this year, I just don't see Andy not coming on
       top.
And he's all that, the highlighted part in your post. But then
again I am a fan so I am probably biased. :)

Hmmm i regret I dont have him in my boarder!!! (still forgetting
the name of what it is called..)
Federer has been so popular here since he won those Wimbledons.
Build up a huge fan base.
But Andy is the one for the younger ones I think.
When I talk to people a lot of older like Federer. But yes, his
win in Wimbledon was so big for the brits. Went crazy. You
should have seen the newspapers day after his win.
People were screaming from their houses. Me 2. So intense that
day, difficult to describe how it was.
The brits have cheered more for Federer than Andy earlier. Brits
are a bit different from what I am used to. The players must
prove their respect, nationality is not enough.
Winning Wimbledon.... Nothing more to improve! What more can he
do? People finally took him in their arms. Now we see how
       wonderful person he is.
