This was on TV and had Part 1 and 2 to it so it was basically 4
hours long. While I thought it was okay, I don't think it
remained truthful to the original story. I later studied a bit
and found out Bonnie and Clyde did not meet at Bonnie's wedding.
That part was glamorized unnecessarily. Also, it showed Bonnie
firing at police at times whereas the truth probably is that
perhaps Bonnie never pulled the trigger against anyone. I say
that because there's absolutely no account for this event - no
eye witness or whatsoever, so that part wasn't believable
either. And this story isn't even 100 years old and has already
been heavily manipulated. Perhaps the old film is more true to
its original story.

I got curious after watching the movie and decided to find out
more about it. And what I found out didn't really match to its
film story. It was glamorized and manipulated to make it a feel
good movie, while the real life story had many bitter moments
and wasn't at all as clear cut. Quite ironic that it even won
the Oscar but then again we do like our fake stuff and want to
go home feeling good about it.

Fake or not, I loved A Beautiful Mind. I was sleepy the night
that I saw it, but somehow after about 20 minutes I was sitting
on the edge of my bed. As I watched that movie I remembered
tidbits my BFF had told me about what was going with her
husband. Hearing her talk about it hadn't properly prepared me
for her reality.
By the time the movie was over I was bawling like a baby. I
called her up and apologized for my lack of understanding. I
went and bought her a copy and she wept too. She said it was her
exact experience and she used the movie to explain to her young
pre-teen and teenaged sons why dad had to go and live in a
nursing home.
That movie holds a special place in my heart.

So I finally watched Gravity last night and was heavily
disappointed. I wasn't bored or anything and it did keep me
engaged but it was unable to create any emotion in me let alone
challenge my intellect. The dialogue between the two main
characters was very poor and juvenile. I did not understand why
a character like Dr. Stone was even considered to be in the
space as a Specialist no less, when she was mentally so
unstable. I don't even want to touch Clooney's character there.
Absolute dire. There was no development in any of these two
characters so it was very hard to like any one of them in this
sci-fi so called cliche. I also did not understand why Stone
didn't surrender given that she was living a remote life on
earth and didn't have much to live for. It just felt like your
everyday Hollywood cliche at its best. It was intellectually
quite dense and was probably targeted for the mass audience for
the sole purpose of making money rather than being intellectual
and thought provoking.
I don't think they Director has any true understanding of a real
sci-fi thriller. He should really watch 2001: A Space Odyssey if
he wants to get some understanding of the space and how it
really works. Even Contact will do him for now though it's not
entirely filmed in space. Or watch the Russian version of
Solaris to get a feel of a true sci-fi thriller.
A couple of thumbs down from me, sorry.
