"Hurry up, Ken!" Thirian Al'Mere yelled back down the hill where
Ken Winston was huffing his way up the hill.
"I...am moving...as fast... as I...can!" Ken shouted up between
heaving breaths.
"You know, if you had started training earlier, you would not
have to worry so much." Thirian yelled back, a dazzling smile on
his chiseled features.
Ken glared at his friend, knowing he was right. Ken was training
for the physical test that the local militia put all of their
soldiers through. Even though he was going to be a Squad Mage,
even they were required to be able to run a set distance in a
certain time.
"Come on! You only have two weeks before the test!" Thirian
said.
Ken ran up the hill, and collapsed at the top, unable to feel
his legs.
"We ran from one end of the city to the other." Ken wheezed
after a minute of heavy breathing. "Please tell me I am not
running back."
"Not today, friend." Thirian smirked. "We will walk back at your
pace."
Ken smiled at that, and lay back down for a minute. He looked
over at Thirian, who was stretching his muscles on the brick
wall that surrounded the city's cemetery. Ken couldn't help but
be jealous of his friend's strong physique. He was tall,
handsome, and could most assuredly outrun Ken at the drop of a
pin. Ken knew that he himself was far from ugly, but he knew
that the strong, masculine features that run strong in Thirian's
family line were more attractive than the thin, effeminate body
frame that ran in his family. When he went out for a night in
the city, Ken would end up going home alone when he went with
Thirian. How could he compare to a giant of a man with golden
locks of hair and a chin to crush tyrants? His own pale skin
and black hair was rather disappointing.
"Something on your mind, Ken?" Thirian asked him.
"Nothing in particular." Ken lied.
Thirian shrugged, and returned to his stretches.
This is an introduction of sorts. I will be updating this as
often as I can.
