       ES Peets’ birth?

Howard, in the thread about Catherine Crete, you mention that
Damon’s partner Elias Spencer Peets was born in 1842 in Vermont.
However, the family genealogist Terry Charles Peet lists him (in
the book JOHN PEET 1597-1684 of Stratford, Connecticut & his
descendants) as born November 15, 1841, in Newport NY.
       Which is correct?
However, he also states the brother, AJ Peet, was born 1854,
whereas Nina found he was born 1847.

       Pete:
This from the Catherine Creta thread....Nina didn't find it, a
       former member did.
Where did Nina put the year 1847 down, if you recall?
       ALEXANDER JAMES PEET
       b 1854, Westport, NY; d December 13, 1914 (NYC death certificate
       # 34928 gives cause of death as cerebral apoplexy), at Flower
Hospital; once resided at Cortelyou Road, Brooklyn, NY; c 1 89 1
letter from A.J. Peets indicates he is still a bachelor, living
alone at 153 W 49 ,h St, and practicing medicine; bur. Wood Lawn
Cemetery, NY; m April 25, 1898, Manhattan, NY Christine Grace
Gardner (she b. 1856; d. 1900 soon after or at the birth of
       their only child), dau of Joseph Gardner and Salome Kiefer;
       residing at 515 E 78 St. at time of death;
death certificate indicates A.J. was married - not widowed - at
the time of his death - if so, we do not have the name of his
wife; family records for this line show an Alexander J. Peet(s)
       b July 2, 1 846, who m June 21, 1868 Carrie W. Gibson.... from
the New York Times, October 4, 1895 comes the following article
relative to a divorce proceeding between an Alexander Peet,
physician in NYC, and his 17 yr old wife of four months, Augusta
       Peet:

       Pete:
Never mind, I found the post where the year 1847 shows up.
Nina says that his age varies on some censuses...
The 1842 date that I typed for Elias Spencer Peets birthdate was
       my goof, Pete....and probably
my error in posting Vermont as his birthplace.
I made the mistake by using the information on Ancestry for his
       birthdate:

Thanks. The quote about AJ Peet that our friend franzoi, I
forget his handle here, he’s had quite a few on the various
sites, is from the genealogy book by Terry Charles Peet, from
which I quoted the entry on ES Peets.
I found a few later addresses for ESPeets, hoping to find a
       photo of him.
He was a keen yachtsman, at one time treasurer of the Hudson
River Ice Yacht Club, and also appears as a hobbyist dog breeder
       in some kennel publications.
In 1910 he’s listed as an early car owner, and shortly before he
died, 1918 I think, he’s listed as being in “autos” with his son
       Clifford.
Anyway, as said was hoping to find a photo and noticed the
discrepancy in birth year, that’s all
