In the article Freed Frenchy Sails To-Day, it’s mentioned that
Ali was escorted to La Touraine by Amos T. Baker, a “prison
guard”.
I think in reality it was one of the medical officers of
Dannemorra.
Amos Trevallee Baker was born in Buffalo NY 1/2 1874 and got his
medical degree 1897. He started at Dannemorra in 1900.
1906 he switched to Matteawan and he later became chief
psychiatrist of Sing Sing.
September 10 1912 he married Edna G. Pelkie. She died dec. 27,
1922.
He had a long and distinguished career in psychiatry, dealing
with mentally ill criminals.
I’m sure there’s a photo of him somewhere but on my phone it’s
difficult to find one.

He died Jan 19, 1962, at his home 22 Valentine Road, Briar-Cliff
Manor
In 1960, the New York Academy of Medicine put out a portrait
catalog in two volumes, search results indicate he’s in it, but
the books are not online, I think

In a 1909 trial against Harry K Thaw, Baker testified as an
alienist together with Austin Flint:

Thanks Pete....It appears that Baker was mislabeled.
You'll recall that William Moody and George Leeson, two NYPD
detective lieutenants, escorted Ali to the dock and ensured
that he boarded. Both were active in the hunt for Crippen.
Nice find, boss.

I think it was 1909, the newspaper clipping I posted was 1909, I
believe
