       Is This Our Mary Miniter?

       Hi Howard
just came across this story of a young woman named Mary Miniter
in cahoots with an accessory being accused of stealing.
I automatically thought it was our girl, but it's in Newburgh,
quite far. There's a followup as Mary Miniter aged 42 died in
Newburgh in 1913. Probably the same woman.
Just wondering - the name, age and petty crime made it seem
likely. Our Miniter was born 1868-69, this one around 1871.

       Pete:
Nice work, big guy...but it isn't her.
Nina looked this up just now:
From the New York State Marriage Index:
Mary Miniter, married to James McDermott, on November 3, 1891 in
       Newburgh, New York.
Nina also found out that the Mary Miniter in this story was born
       in Ireland.
Our Mary Miniter was a New York girl.
You probably recall that Mary was arrested in 1892 in Manhattan
       and then again in 1894.
This link takes you to the 1892 arrest and conviction of our
Mary. Notice that the second article has her down as forty
       years old.
Gee, a goof by the press? Who woulda thunk it? :D
