From 1901....James Dougherty writes a letter to Governor Odell,
expressing his opinion that Damon's farmhand was Amer Ben Ali.
After reading Dougherty's letter, the Governor took action,
which led to Damon finally giving an official, written
description of the
farmhand...which, as we know, did not match the one provided by
Mary Miniter a decade earlier.
