       Although it's from 1902, I decided to place this article here.
       Lewis Megargee's articles on New York, the NYPD, and the Brown
       Murder were always negative.
       Some remarks made in this one are outright lies.
       The 1887 book by Superintendent Walling of the NYPD points out
       that two other officers, not Thomas Byrnes, a Captain at the
       time, arrested
       John Hope, the son of Jimmy Hope, for the crime in reference.
       More on the Hope arrest may be found in 'Recollections of Supt.
       Walling' ( 1887) available in Internet Archive.
       All of this was originally put in East River Echo Number 152,
       March 2022.  I put the PDF off that issue at the bottom.

       Dr. Henry Formad, who was the Coroner for Philadelphia,
       according to the misanthropic Megargee, died an 'unlamented'
       death.  Nice guy.
       Researchers who follow the case on this site will immediately
       see the number of mistakes Megargee makes in this piece.
