It didn't take very long for dime novel authors to incorporate
the Brown Murder into their stories.
It's not been easy finding 'Jerimiah K. Jerimiah', which is most
likely a nom de plume for the author of 'Three Girls and A Goat"
On the other hand, I did find someone named Capt. Mayne
Reid...which is suspiciously similar to the name of the author
of 'Ash Barrel Ike', Captain Maine Reed.
I've added a PDF of the real Mayne Reid's bio below.
The real Capt. Reid did not write the dime novel, Ash Barrel
Ike. He couldn't have.
He had been dead for eight years when the story appeared in the
papers.

As I stated earlier, articles referencing the murder appeared
very quickly, in fact in the case of the Jeremiah article,
earlier than fiction works referencing the case of the
Whitechapel Murderer. The Jerimiah story was published less
than a week after the conclusion of the Carrie Brown Coroner
Inquest and originally found in the New York Evening Sun..
The articles appeared in newspapers coast to coast... even in
western Canada.
