       DEATH OF MRS. CYRUS EDSON.
Virginia Churchill Edson, wife of Dr. Cyrus Edson, of the Health
Department, died at her home, No. 54 West Ninth-street,
yesterday morning, after a lingering illness. A recent operation
for cancer failed to improve her condition. She was
thirty-eight years old and the mother of four children. Her
father was James Paige, a native of England, who became
a citizen of the United States, and at one time represented the
Government as Consul to Algiers. Her mother was a native
of Greece. Part of Mrs. Edson's girlhood was spent in
Constantinople, and previous to her marriage she had travelled
       extensively.
Arrangements have been made for her funeral on Saturday at 10 a.
m., and the burial will be at Woodlawn.
