OVIDE ROBILLARD
AVOCAT
COUNSELLOR AT LAW
No. 25 PINE STREET
New York, March 19, 1900.
------------------------------------
Mr. John T. Joyce
Pardon Clerk,
Executive Chamber, Albany, N.Y.
Dear Sir:
I have recently written to His Excellency, the Governor, in the
matter of "Frenchy" as you may be aware.
Should the Executive extend clemency upon this unfortunate man
and should it be upon the condition that he should leave this
country, as I am sailing away to Europe on the 29th inst., by
the French line, I will see (if pardoned in time) that he starts
by the
same boat, and will communicate with the French authorities at
Havre upon my arrival so that he will reach his destination.
You will find with the record, one or two letters, especially
one from Mr. J. B. Martin of the Hotel Martin, who offers to pay
all "Frenchy's" expenses for his return to Algeria. His offer
stands good today as it stood two years ago.
I would respectfully ask you to mention the fact to His
Excellency, the Governor.
A great many people have taken a deep interest in this case of
poor "Frenchy" and hope sincerely that he will be pardoned.
Frenchy himself relies very much upon the generosity of our
worthy Governor.
Thanking you for your past courtesy and whatever you may do in
this matter.
I beg to remain,
Yours respectfully,
Ovide Robillard
