Pete Damgaard suggested making a list of individuals involved in
the case in one form or another
that were Freemasons, which was an excellent idea.
This thread will be for collecting names of those involved in
Tammany Hall, the Democratic political machine.
At the top of this list, you'll find Dr. William Jenkins and his
brother.
Police officials, lawyers, judges, and any politicians who were
involved in the case can be listed here.

At the time of the murder, the Mayor of New York City, Hugh
Grant, was a member of Tammany Hall.
Judge Randolph Martine:
Martine was, at one time, a member of Tammany Hall but left in
1881
In November 1884, Martine was elected on the County Democracy
ticket New York County District Attorney.
On taking office, he appointed John R. Fellows and De Lancey
Nicoll as Assistant D.A.s.
Judge Frederick Smyth:
Smyth was a member of Tammany Hall.
Smyth was a school commissioner from 1863 to 1865. In November
1875, Smyth ran on the Tammany Hall ticket for Recorder of New
York City, but was defeated by John K. Hackett, the incumbent
Tammany man who—after having been dropped from the ticket—had
been nominated by Republicans and Anti-Tammany Democrats. Smyth
was a delegate to the 1876 Democratic National Convention, and
later the same year was a presidential elector casting his vote
for Samuel J. Tilden and Thomas A. Hendricks. In November 1878,
Smyth ran on the Tammany ticket for New York County District
Attorney but was defeated by the Republican incumbent Benjamin
K. Phelps. In November 1879, Smyth ran on the Tammany ticket for
Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, but was defeated by Miles
Beach.
After Hackett's death, Smyth was elected on December 31, 1879,
by the Board of Supervisors of New York County as Recorder of
New York City to fill the vacancy until the next election. In
November 1880, Smyth was elected on the Tammany ticket to
succeed himself for a term of 14 years, but was defeated for
re-election in November 1894 by John W. Goff who was elected on
a fusion ticket nominated jointly by all other political
organizations and parties, except Tammany.
In May 1895, Smyth was elected Grand Sachem of the Tammany
Society. In November 1895, Smyth was elected to a 14-year term
on the New York Supreme Court (1st D.)
D. A. John R. Fellows:
Fellows was a member of Tammany Hall
He served as New York County District Attorney (1888–1890,
1894–1896), and a member of Congress from New York (1891–1893)
He enlisted in the 1st Arkansas Infantry Regiment of the
Confederate States Army. After the Battle of Shiloh, he was made
a colonel and assigned to staff duties as assistant adjutant to
Gen. William Beall. Later he was inspector general at Port
Hudson, Louisiana, and was captured there on July 9, 1863. He
was kept a prisoner of war until the end of the American Civil
War, and released on June 10, 1865.
D. A. De Lancey Nicoll:
Nicoll was a member of Tammany Hall
After serving in private practice, he was appointed Assistant
New York County District Attorney by D.A. Randolph B. Martine in
1885. In November 1887, he ran on the Citizens Reform,
Republican and Irving Hall (a faction of Anti-Tammany Democrats)
tickets to succeed Martine as D.A., but was defeated by his
fellow Assistant D.A. John R. Fellows who ran on the Tammany
Hall/County Democracy (the larger faction of Anti-Tammany
Democrats) ticket. Upon taking office in January 1888, Fellows
dismissed Nicoll from the office of Assistant D.A.
In November 1890, Nicoll ran on the Tammany Hall ticket to
succeed Fellows as D.A., and was elected. Nicoll was D.A. from
January 1891 until the end of 1893.

Emmanuel Friend was not a member of Tammany Hall

and William Mclaughlin were not members of Tammany Hall.

A couple of more members;
Jacob Ruppert, Jr.
Dr. Cyrus Edson
Jacob Ruppert Jr. was associated with Tammany Hall, the
Democratic political machine in New York City, during the 1890s.
Affiliation: Late in the 1880s, Ruppert joined the organization
due to his position as a large New York manufacturer, making it
difficult to avoid the Democratic machine.
Political Rise: With Tammany Hall's support and connections, he
ran for the United States Congress in 1898, winning a seat in a
generally Republican district.
Support: Richard Croker, the political boss of Tammany Hall at
the time, supported his election.
Career: Ruppert served as a four-term Democratic U.S.
Congressman from New York from 1899 to 1907, with deep roots in
the machine
The result of the strict quarantining was exactly what had been
hoped. By April, the epidemic had been conquered and the public
was lionizing the Health Department's patrician chief inspector
for contagious diseases, Dr. Cyrus Edson, the son of a former
mayor and an active member of Tammany Hall and the New York City
Democratic Committee. Taking no chances, Edson had employed
draconian measures to halt the epidemic, and they had worked. In
addition, Dr. William Jenkins, the health officer of the Port of
New York (and likewise in political favor, having married the
sister of Richard Croker, the boss of Tammany Hall), had not
hesitated to invoke a policy of detaining and quarantining every
Eastern European Jew coming through the harbor. No other group
was affected by the order, which remained in place until April.

Although Dr. Justin Herold worked under William Jenkins, a
member of Tammany Hall, he wasn't a member himself.
In fact, he resigned from his position as Deputy Coroner at the
age of 26 because of Tammany Hall.
Like Francis Wellman, mentioned earlier, Herold was a Democrat.
Neither were Tammany men.
