       East River Hotel....in 1968

       These two screenshots come from the 1968 film, Madigan, starring
       Richard Widmark.
       At one point, a street informant calls Widmark, a detective,
       with information about a man the cops want badly.
       He tells Widmark to get over to the East River Hotel because
       that's where the wanted man is hiding out.
       This East River Hotel, however, was in Los Angeles on a stage
       set, and the signs were placed on the side of a warehouse.
       It's the only film or TV program I've come across that brings up
       the name of the hotel.

       Films Featuring The Former Site of The Murder
       The first film that I located that contains footage of Catherine
       Slip was the 1945 film, "House on 92nd Street".  It's a film
       based on the true story of how the F.B.I. exposed and arrested
       the Duquesne spy ring of Nazi saboteurs in America.
       The opposite side of the street where the hotel once stood was
       filmed.

       The second was the 1957 film, "A Hatful of Rain".  The story was
       written by Michael Gazzo, who portrayed Frankie "Five Angels"
       (Pentangeli) in 'The Godfather, Pt. 2". It's a film based on the
       ways morphine addiction affects an ex-soldier and his family.
       The beginning of the film has a man walking past the Al Smith
       Homes. I can't locate the exact place in the film that scans
       over the site, but it's in the film as well as
       other LES streets where the Homes are situated.
       Both films feature Lloyd Nolan.
