Top Ten Things We'd Like To Know:
If your items are similar to mine, that's cool. If you only have
5, that's cool too.
Of course, if you have more, that's even better.
1. Information about John Montgomery, Carrie's father. Were
there any other children?
B. Information about Carrie's mother, Mary, her maiden name,
and whether there are
other relatives.
2. Birthdate of Carrie Brown & location
3. More information on where Carrie Brown lived and worked in
Manhattan
4. Marriage license/certificate of Charles and Carrie in
Brooklyn
5. Who handed the police the tin type of Carrie and what were
the circumstances in which
it was taken.
6. Who was the man the police were searching for and claimed to
be Frenchy #2?
7. Did Carrie Brown have friends/family in New York/Brooklyn
that she was in touch with
after Charles took the girls back to Salem in 1863?
8. Who came up with the myth that Inspector Byrnes said the NYPD
would have a killer
like the Whitechapel Murderer under arrest between '24-48'
hours?
9. Did Amer Ben Ali make it back to Algeria in 1902?
10. Was there ever a person who received the attention of a
government (French) to the
extent the unrespectable Ali did?
11. Despite having no success in finding one, was there ever an
instance of a person coming
forward with what was accepted as exculpatory evidence that
led to the release of a prisoner
such as we have with George Damon? A case where someone with
no familial link to victim or
murderer, or first-hand knowledge of the crime as it
occurred, stepping out after a decade
of dormancy
12. Who came up with the story that Arbie LaBruckman was
arrested in London as a suspect
in the Whitechapel Murders?

A few fairly obvious ones How.
13. Details on the rest of Ali’s life. What he did (any evidence
of violent crime), when he died etc?
14. More information on the hotel locks.
15. Who was Damon’s mysterious, vanishing servant and what did
she really know?
16. Was there a hidden (maybe in some way politically motivated)
reason for the concerted effort to get Ali released?
17. Was there any significance in the ‘x’ that the killer carved
into her buttock?

journalists he'd been arrested in London?

Pete:
This is what bothers me.
If it was LaBruckman, he's making himself into a suspect! Who
does that?
He did not need to tell the police or the press this story.
If he did, then he was a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
His employer praised him highly....possibly, in part, because he
needed him on his ships.

La Bruckman story must be true. Although several weeks or a
month (I think I've read that somewhere) is too long for him to
have been held without good reason, there must have been some
evidence against him. We have dozens of reports of people being
arrested and released shortly after, or a day or two after, all
over London; An arrest of that length couldn't have gone
unnoticed by the London press.

On the contrary, there are no reports in British papers of him
being arrested.
The 'trial' described below, never happened.
Eighteen months ago would have been November 1889...
You think that something along these lines would have gone
unmentioned in the British press?

So, do you think this alleged arrest really happened?
Pete appears to, and Nina does, believe that he came up with the
story, regardless of the alleged arrest.
I'm on the fence....but Pete and Nina are probably
right....goddamn them! ;D
I couldn't understand someone implicating themselves in the WM
from 2 1/2 years earlier, especially after they've
only been picked up for questioning.
He was picked up around 11:00 am by Jersey City police and
released at 2:00 pm-2:30 on the 29th. Detective McCloskey of the
NYPD took a look at him
and told Chief Murphy of the JC Police he wasn't their suspect.

As I said in post #4, the arrest may have occurred, but not for
that long; if so, the contemporary London press would have known
about it and reported on it at the time.
