       Jose:
This is from Gary Thomas from back in 2024 on the Carrie Brown
       File( Facebook group).
There are no known descendants of Carrie Brown, both daughters
died without children that reached adulthood, the latest
daughter died in the 1940s. A son of Carrie's died as a child. I
know this because my GGG grandmother, Hannah Lassen, raised my
great-grandmother and Carrie's kids in the same household after
Charles E. Brown died in 1873 off the coast of Zanzibar.
Took me long enough to remember it. ???

       Thanks, Jose.
However, there’s s mismatch between the Magdalena Liebsch found
by Nina, ca. 1851-1929, and the one found by you, ca 1836-1893.
Howard, how sure is Nina of the mother’s maiden name, Ubringson?
       It seems very unusual.
There’s a Liebsch family in Rylskov parish in Schleswig, 1845
census, with head Antoni Liebsch, wife Anna Ulrichsen, born ca
       1810.
Children Anna Catharina (1834), Antoni (1837), Maria (1840),
Ingeburg (1841), Ulrich (1843), Andreas Jensen Liebsch (1844)
and wife’s brother Ulrich Ulrichsen (1805).
It seems the Antoni and Andreas would be the two sailmakers
found in Salem in the 1860-1870s, and the Anthon M. Liebsch who
       married Maria Magdalena
How does Maria Magdalena have a child called Ella Brown Lee,
       though?
Perhaps she was first married to a relative of Charles E. Brown,
or she had a child by him before being married to Liebsch?
And how is Nina’s M.Liebsch related - and does she have the
       right initial (S)?
Perhaps she’s a late child of Antoni and Anna, that would match
last name and possibly mother’s maiden name.
Anna Ulrichsen would have been ca. 41 when having her, not
       impossible

       Pete:
Thanks for bringing up the difference in spelling Ulrichsen and
       Ubringson.....Nina commented on that
when she found another entry last night. It is probably, as you
infer, Ulrichsen, or at least, not Ubringson.
Not to confuse matters, Pete, and perhaps best posted on another
       thread....the 1880 Census listed Charles
Brown ( deceased for 7 years by the time of the census ) as
being born in Schleswig, Germany....a fact you already knew
       about.
I mention this only if it is of assistance to you on the current
topic. Charles is also listed as being born in Copenhagen, which
you already knew about, in other sources.

Yes, thanks, unfortunately the sources for Schleswig are not
       readily available.
I think both Brown and Lassen were from Schleswig and that they
knew or were related to the Liebsch family back there.
There’s a Lassen family in parish of Rylskov, unfortunately
nothing online between roughly 1803-1845. Peter Lassen was born
1811, so even if he did come from Rylskov, it’s not online.
Lassen was Charles Brown’s uncle, as I recall Lassen was born
Lassen and his wife’s maiden name was not Brown, this means
Charles’ mother was Lassen’s sister, maiden name Lassen.
Probably an elder sister, born around 1805, since Charles was
       born 1829.

       Thanks How,
Back then, when I went to Salem, the only information I had
about the burial site was findagrave, which said, "She was
interred in either a receiving vault at Harmony Grove Cemetery
or Green Lawn Cemetery, both in Salem, Massachusetts." So I went
to both cemeteries. I remember the office was closed; it must
have been the weekend, I don't remember.
I just checked Findagrave, and it still has that information,
but now it's accompanied by a ton of other information.

       Excellent, How,
Not only do I have the name of his great-great-grandmother, but
i also know more precisely where Brown's death took place (I
only had 'West African coast') off the coast of Zanzibar.

No, How, I didn't share anything anywhere. That's from
findagrave. I meant that years ago, the only thing you could
read in findagrave was what I circled in red, which is why I
went to both cemeteries. Apart from that, all the information
there today and the pic has been added by someone else.

As far as I can tell, Magdaline S. Liebsch was the daughter of
Anton and Anna Liebsch, from Rylskov parish in Schleswig.
So she was the younger sister of Salem sailmakers Anton and
       Andreas Liebsch.
She was born May 7th 1850 and died June 15th 1929.
In September 30 1874 she married John F. Dahlberg, born in
Sweden so probably Johan, in Salem and the year after she had a
       son, Frederick.
So the big question of course is why did Charles E. Brown leave
her 1000 $ in her will?
A likely explanation seems to be she helped take care of his two
girls, after Carrie Brown had left for New York?
