Report of October School Day.

Report of the October Mixed School Day, [glow=red,2,300]The
Halloween Special.[/glow]
Saturday 27th October, Starting at 12.00 Lunchtime.
Report from Beril.
Who all came along today ?
Miss Stephanie Hardcastle, Headmistress.
Miss Ros Dubois, Deputy Headmistress.
Appointed by the Headmistress, Head Girl - Miss Beril Reid.
Pupils :-
Alex Evans.
Alex Coldwell.
Steven Riverea.
Trevor Hutchinson.
Ian Gold.
Gazza McDonald Tewit.
And in the evening,
Martyn Slater.
Roy Black.
and two new visitors for the evening meal and party
A lad called Peter with his adopted daughter Jane.
And that was our group for today.

We need to start this report with a massive big thank-you
to Martyn Slater, who gave up his Thursday to travel all the way
to the school,
to decorate the whole school in [glow=red,2,300]" SCAREY"
[/glow]banners and
super Halloween props, to create a [glow=red,2,300]brilliant
atmosphere [/glow]for the evening Halloween party. "Well done
Slater"
(more about that later).

We were at least half a hour late in getting started.
The Headmistress started of with an English Word Puzzle.
All the usual rules apply,
All words must have four or more letters
Every word must have a "B" in it.
No nouns or pro-nouns.
NO rude / swear words.
Three extra points if you guess the nine letter word.
Pass mark 15 words/points.
A - T - P

E - B - O
----------
E - R - R
Hear goes,,
brat, probe, abort, bate, abet, rebate,
bear, bares, barter, brow, beat.
beater, beep, beet berate, boar.
boater, borate, bare, probate,
AND the 9 letter word, - tell you later.

Next followed a General knowledge test,
Which is the most used fuel in power stations.
Another name for permantly frozen ground.
Not everyone reached the pass mark of 70%

A Maths lesson now..
15 questions, Answer 10 correctly for pass mark.
1. 7/6 1/2d + 3/9 1/2d + 2/11 1/2d = 14/3 1/2d
2. 775 -:- 25 = 31.
3. 9256 value of 10 =
4. 2/6 + 1/6 1/2 = 1 1/3.
5. Car leaves at 10-40am arrives 12.5 pm how long does it take =
1hr - 25min.
6. 3 balls cost 1/8d how many in 10/0d = 18.
7. ? + 24 -8 = 34 (18)
8. 1680 1864 1922 name the leap year = 1680 and 1864.
9. 40 pupils in class, 7/8 present, how many absent = 5.
10. What is the Mean Average of 6 - 9 - 14 - 3 - 8 = 8.
11. 5% of £5-00d = 5/0d.
12. A wheel turns 5 1/2 feet (1 turn), who many feet in a
furlong = 120.
13. A grocer buys eggs at 4/0d per dozen, sells at 4 1/2d each,
what profit in a gross.
14. A fish tank is 4/5 s full, 6 pints more to fill it, how much
water in tank = 30 pints or 15 quarts.
15. A boy is 14 years in 1945, what year when he's 30 = 1961.
Bloody hell, spitting feathers after all that lot...
Not everybody passed, but the Headmistress was pleased everybody
had a good go at it....

Time for a break, time for a tasty snack and a coffee.
and of course a grand chance to catch up with all the gossip.
The Headmistress was telling us her London trip went well,
making lots of new clients, and a chance to make a few more
films.
She also said she has organised a "fun" lesson for later.
("gosh" wonder what that could be ?)
