Report of the April Mixed School Day.
Saturday 28th April, Starting at 12.00 Lunchtime.
Report from Beril.
Who all attended today,
Miss Stephanie Hardcastle, Headmistress.
Miss Ros Dubois, Deputy Headmistress.
The Pupils..
...................
Alex Evans.
Alex Cowell.
Beril Reid.
Martyn Slater.
Steven Reveria.
Ian Gold.
Gazza McDonald Tewit.
and two new lads -
Robbie Brown.
Peter Stevenson.
Nine pupils attended today,
and Roy Black joined us in the evening...

We were at least half a hour late getting started,
by the time everyone got settled down with a mug of coffee.
The Headmistress started of with an old favourite,
An English word puzzle.
C - L - D

A - K - N
----------
B - E - E
All the usual rules apply,
Each word must have four or more letters.
Each word must have a "K" in it.
NO rude/swear words.
Pass mark 18 words/points.
3 points if you guess the 9 letter word..(answer later).
Hear goes..
Bake, Cake, Lake, Blake, Ankle, Blank, Leek, Leak, Naked, Neck.
Bank, Back, Baked, Black, Caked, Kale, Eked, Blanked, Bleak.
Beak, Beck, Balk, Balked, Bedeck, Lack, Kneil, Lacked, Kneed.
Deck, Keel, Keen, Knead, Clank, Clanked, Dank.
Hard work !

Next followed a general knowledge test,
Then A Giant Maths Project..
12 problems answer 10.
1. 3/4 + 1/5 = 19/20.
2. 4/5 - 1/3 = 7/15.
3. 3/4 x 1/5 = 3/20.
4. 3/4 -:- 1/5 = 3 3/4.
5. P.O. interest @ 2 1/2% per annum.
I have £7 for 6 complete months - how much interest. =
6. What is the interest on £3 for 9 months. = 1/9.
7. What is the interest on £5 - 8/6 d for 11 months. =
8. Hr - Min - Sec.
3 - 15 - 12
X 5

16 - 16 - 0
-------------------
9. £27 - 13/9 d -:- 5 = £5 - 10/9.
10. Fete tea sold tea at 4d per cup (169 @ 4d)
and sandwiches at 9d each, Total takings £7 - 8/7d
How many sandwiches sold. =
11. Harry looses 4/7 of his marbles, and has 21 left
How many did he have originally = 49.
12. At a concert 62% were women.
If there were 96 more women than men,
How many were present = 400.
Bloody hell only Master Goldie managed to get 11/12
Everybody else failed.....
Form a queue at the front..

It's my own opinion that it would be better
to just choose one or two math's projects
Fractions, for interest, And have the whole thing,
+, - x, - -:-, - -, explained in fine detail,
With examples on the blackboard.
Until EVERYONE in the class, fully understood how it is done..
Then nobody would just give up, and not even try..

After lunch break Miss Ros Dubois took over,
and spent the next hour trying to teach the class some basic
Spanish.
Miss Dubois told us she was half Spanish, and enjoyed trying
to teach this subject..
then a test to see who had learned what..

Miss Dubois want's to give out a homework project of her own,
To be completed, and handed in at the next Mixed School Day,
Saturday 9th June, Starting at 12.00 Lunchtime.
So, Homework for Miss Dubois is :-
Draw/sketch a postcard from Spain, written in Spanish..

Now this could be a fun project to do, endless possibilities.
How about :-
We will be staying a few days -- Nos quedaremos algunos
dias
Will you have our luggage sent up - Puede usted encargarse de
que suban nuestro equipaje?
Thank you - Gracias.
haha, or how about,
Do you have a room with a better view, - Tiene usted una
habitacion con una vista mejor?

The Headmistress now back in class, took charge..
She wanted to try out an English Word project,
"Conjugated Verbs"
Now for some of our pupils who are not to sure what this is all
about,
the Boss explained, It is shortening two words into one word,
Like this -
It is - changed to - It's. or there is, changed to - there's...
Hear goes :-
There are many ways to make a difference but there not always
obvious.
If a group of children had "their" (belonging to them) own
clothes.
AND Finally, The Homework -
Learn the counties of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for a
test.

1. Name 4 counties beginning with "C"
Cheshire - Cleveland - Clwyd - Cornwall.
2. How many Northern Irland Counties, = 6.
3. Name the counties of Northern Ireland.
All Counties, Londonderry - Antrim - Tyrone - Fermanagh -
Armagh - Down.
4. Four Counties beginning with "H"
Hampshire - Herefordshire - Humberside - Highlands &
Islands.
5. Name the Ridings of Yorkshire.
North Riding - East Riding - West Riding.
6. Name all the counties beginning with "R"
Rutland.
7. Name six counties beginning with "S"
Shropshire - Somerset - South Yorkshire - South Glamorgan -
Staffordshire - Strathclyde.
