This is a chance to reflect on your work experience placement -
the good and the bad - and communicate with each other about
       your experiences.
Write a response to the questions below of around 100-150 words
and please comment or ask questions on your classmates' posts.
       Questions:
       1. What was the most interesting thing you learnt (either about
the business, the industry, yourself etc)
       2. Describe some of your duties while you were on placement.
       3. Describe the workplace.

Mera care aged care facility (Esther) ;D
During my time on work experience I learnt that there are many
different job roles and responsibilities that are involved in an
age care home, I always just assumed that there were carers and
cleaners but it is actually more complex and strict process to
everything then you would think, it has really given me a more
in-depth look at what my mum does for a living. while being
there I had to do a number of thing like talk to the residents,
massage the residents hands, hand out meals, hand out mail, read
the mail to them and on the last day I was stuck in the laundry
room, believe it or not laundry was the hardest and had the most
rules and regulations. the workplace was really calmed and laid
back, I think they try and make it as calm and as boring as they
can for the old people, the staff were all really nice and I
really liked the fact that there were a large variety in age
       cultures and experience.

Thanks for your response Esther. I think that'a good point - we
might think an Aged Care facility only involves the care of the
elderly, but like you saw, there are multiple jobs you can have.
I think that's probably true of a lot of workplaces as well.
Behind the obvious jobs there are a lot of support and 'hidden'
jobs we might not think about.

Scotsburn Nursery is a great place with friendly people and it
is hardwork to do all the things around the workplace. I learnt
that your feet will die within the first 2 days and that your
back will hurt too. I had to place down plants and trolley
around all the plants. I also did potting and placed down those
pots to grow bigger and better. Then I shoveled some bark and
stones into a wheelbarrow and took the wheelbarrow to a specific
area to tip. My foot was hurting so I checked it out and I had
an ingrown toenail and had to leave early and get it fixed, it's
       all good now!

Thanks Esther, it's great that you enjoyed working there and
it's great that you learnt something new. Working there is
probably fun and is nice and relaxed as you said. If I could, I
would recommend the aged care facility to my friends thanks to
your comment on how it was!!!! :D

Thanks for sharing Ayoub. :) Your work experience placement
really does sound like hard work but it seems like you've been
enjoying it and it's probably giving you a good idea about the
horticulture industry and helping you to decide if that's what
you really want to do in the future. Good on you!

sounds like a fun place to work, seems that you need to do more
manual labor than book work which seems to suit you, hope your
       toes ok. lol

       :) :)
I worked at Frankston North Community Centre.
I found a few things interesting that in the Frankston North
Community Centre it’s not just for community stuff. They do
things that really matter, for example they are trying to make
10,000 eight point stars for the worldwide one million stars to
stop violence. We also did a disability event which was when
people that have some disabilities come and do fun activities.
I was also interested with how much I have grown. I had to cut
some ribbon, fold some paper, do reception etc. The work place
was a fun, positive environment with lovely people that you meet
through everything we did there. It’s good for all ages and all
       nationalities.

Jess it sounds like FNCC was a great place to do work experience
and gave you the chance to do a variety of activities with many
different people. Community Centres are really fantastic
community resources and like you saw offer so many things to so
       many people.
