       The Book of Esther

Hello! As I was reading in the book of Esther the other day, I
noticed in the footnotes it said another version(s) had extended
chapters. Why does the NKJV not include these? Did they not
       match up biblically?
       Thanks! :)

Hey there! Just curious, are you reading out of a study Bible?
       If so, which one?
I'll try to explain this to the best of my ability, but if it
gets confusing let me know! Basically, historically there have
been two versions of the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament). The
first one is the books being written in the original Hebrew, and
the other is called the Septuagint, which is the Greek
translation of the Hebrew Bible. When the Septuagint was
written, there were additional writings added to the original
Hebrew text in the Book of Esther. Therefore, in desiring to get
as close to the original text as possible, the Bible doesn't
       include the additional chapters.
Hopefully that answered your question! :)
