Beyond the Final Frontier [Rated: X;; Sexual Content.]
By: CakesandLies Date: May 6, 2012, 10:04 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Silence, it is the echo of space...open, empty space. Nothing
lives in the expanse of twinkling stars and orbiting planets,
silence was all there was to hear. It was known to drive men
mad...staring into the abyss of nothingness. Knowing that all
that separated you from the great death of cold and vacuum was a
bit of glass and metal. IT was an intoxicating feeling of primal
fear, and he reveled in it. A man of great convictions Rek'lial
was an elf of strong emotion. He felt empowered with that rush
of uncertainty...this was the edge of charted space. He
chuckled, his pilot gave him a curious look as he aimed the
impressive vessel towards the out docking ring of the space
station. They were hear for the immense structure. A repurposed
bit of alien tech it had become a mecha, not unlike old rail
stations in the old west of earth.
Rek took a deep breath, this was the truest sense of a final
frontier. Nothing stirred here but bandits and explorers. It was
beautiful. He closed his eyes and rested himself against the
glass, as if he could feel Deep Space Station 4...understand
it's many intricacies. He was no engineer but he felt so
connected to the technology that had led them to this great
conquering of the universe. They were beyond the Legionary hold,
beyond all contact with the worlds back home. He stepped back
from the glass and looked to his crew, they had expectation in
their eyes...he should say something, anything. He smiled
       benevolently.
"My crew, my friends, my men. This is further than most will
travel, it is a place where the old ends and only the new
survives. That station represents the furthest outpost of the
Legion. It is delicate and hangs precariously close to spinning
off into the nothingness of this final frontier. We've been sent
to repair her, and heal her wounded spirit...she must not
fall..." he stopped and his crew seemed to unite with his words.
He'd been considered one of the great Captains, standing tall
and defined, he was a true representation of strength. His kind
were passionate, and emboldened. They had shared this spirit of
adventure and eagerness to expand with the Legion when they'd
       finally joined them.
He looked like the Gil Elf usually did, he had a hard jaw and
intense blue eyes that could stop a man's heart beating with a
glance. His lips were often curled into a bit of a smirk which
broke his gaze's spell before his began to speak. He has a rich
voice, he rightly should have been a politician. He was
considered the "Pretty Boy" of officers, charismatic and
arrogant at times he would let his emotions take him from time
       to time.
A long tail stretched behind him, flicking back and forth with
cat-like mischief as he chuckled looking back to the station. He
knew this was not going to be all pleasant though. There was a
different kind of Elf that resided on that station, commanded it
even. He knew this man was of a species distantly related to Gil
Elf. They were a cold species, one that favored logic and long
thought over the brash nature of Rek's kind. They were a bitter
race he'd decided and found working with them most unbearable.
There was a reason his kind had broken off to find some other
world to colonize. No matter, he thought as his ears flicked
back. No matter at all...no dull, brainiac could make this
moment any less perfect. Rek looked again to his crew.
"...Oh...friends...this is going to be glorious..." he murmured.
It was a repair mission, they had many engineers on board for
this reason but, he was going to make it even more wonderful
       than just that.
He adjusted his official uniform, it was military as his vessel
was not just for exploration. With an impressive Gil Elf arsenal
it was not gun shy. He chuckled again and pressed his hands to
the glass of his bridge window, they were initiating docking
procedures. He got a good look at the intricate structures
connecting the docking ring to the main body of the station. It
resembled two needles fused together at the eyes. Each rotated
opposite the other, and docking ring rotated with the top most
needle, keeping a constant connection with the bridges that lead
       into the station.
The bottom section of the station was offline. The brain that
lived there was cut off and sealed away, it was an impressive
amount of moral and ethical minefields that had to be maneuvered
to allow them even that. The Legion frowned upon destroying
sentient life...and the poor mind had simply lost it's fleet and
been left to it's own devices. Damage long ago it's intricate
silicon cells couldn't be repaired by the Legion's technology.
It was simply cut off and left to ponder on it's own, and had
gone dormant after so much time.
Rek found that fascinating...a giant living silicon brain...it
had controlled a fleet but in it's broken state it's fleet had
flown away or been destroyed. Like a child without it's parents
the brain had started self-destructing...like a deteriorating
       mental patient.
       Docking complete.
They were to be greeted by the station commander and his
lot...and Rek with his team of engineers would meet him. His
crew would be allowed shore leave as long as they were repairing
the station. He headed for the airlock to leave his ship and
smirked. "...alright, time to fix Deep Space Station 4," he
       called as his engineers assembled.

Deep Space Station 4 was a marvelous unit, even logic would
allow that opinion. The simple idea of the brain within, the
station they could repair and rebuild would be amazing. It would
last, so long as those 'free spirits' didn't let their minds go
so freely. They had to call those other men in to repair battle
damage and it bothered many of his men.
Though, it didn't show, James was rather bothered himself. As
the crew ran the station, he was meant to greet the other
captain and crew. Direct them where they needed to be, and then
       get them off his vessel.
James stood at around 5 foot, with dark hair falling around his
shoulders. The dark brown set off the wise, golden eyes held on
his fair skinned face. The male was thin, slender and in shape,
he needed to be. The bangs fell to the sides, parted down the
side and framing his face well. He was thinner, so made him look
       more fragile than he was.
When the other ship docked, James stood ready in his uniform, a
few select crew members behind him waiting. He was short even to
the other crew members, who stood a head or more taller than he
did. With a breath, the male with the pointed ears spoke.
"Welcome to Deep Space Station 4, I am the commander of this
vessel, James. If you have any questions, feel free to ask,
please do not hesitate." he spoke calmly, coldly even. The man's
voice held no emotion behind it, but was smooth and rolled off
       the tongue well.

Rek noted the tiny commander, and raised a dark brow with an
enigmatic expression. "Oh hello to you Commander James was it?
Well I am Captain Rek'Lial of the Star Ship, L.S.S Constitution.
It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance...." he spoke and
offered a welcome hand to the smaller man. He noted the
distasteful similarities between him and the other elf-kind. He
hated feeling like he could be at all compared to this one.
"...Seems your station's in need of repair...point me in the
right direction James." He reveled in the fact that his rank of
Captain was above this fellow. Meant he could drop the title and
he was sure that might get under Jame's skin. Not that anyone
would see that...it was a challenge for Rek though.
The engineers behind their captain could not quite understand
the undercurrents between the two, but weren't about to
interject into it. Their captain glanced over them for a moment.
"...My boys are anxious to get to work...wouldn't want to be
kept too long." The much bigger elf licked his lips a bit like a
       hungry animal.
His first officer was a shadow, weird creatures...their true
bodies hidden beneath cloaks of billowing dark tendrils. He was
taller even than the Captain but weighed as much as a child. He
cleared his throat. "I have a question, if the Captain
pleases..." he murmured in that mildly insubordinate tone.
"...Oh? Ask away Krin," Rek allowed.
"We have some crew who'd like to take shore leave, is there some
place to rest and relax while we're not on duty?" Krin inquired
of James. They were the same rank, Commander.

James was bothered a little bit by the other dropping the title
so quickly. The hand extended to him was looked at, but the
smaller man kept his hands at his side. "Thank you Captain, if
you will we will escort you to the damaged sector as soon as
possible." he said softly, looking at his face once more. He
would not shake another's hand. He just, didn't like shaking
       hands.
When this.. Krin fellow spoke, he listened and nodded a bit, "We
have a section of rooms cleared out and set aside for Captain
Rek'Lial and his crew, so we are fully prepared to give you rest
whenever it may be needed." he explained, "Would you care to
work now or rest first?" his eyes were back on the captain,
waiting for an answer when one of his own came up, asking him
where something was located and once he had an answer, he
       hurried off to find it.

Rek's tail swished back and forth with that clever attitude of
his. He chuckled and took his hand back...mmmm maybe this guy
had a hint of spunk. If only just a hint. He took a moment
before answering the commander, sizing him up with a quick
glance. "...I get the sense that my engineers are rather excited
about the prospect of discovering the inner workings of this
most unusual station..." he purred and kneaded his hands
together for a moment as if considering something. "...Why don't
you have one of your boys take them to the breakage. I'd love a
tour around your installation, James." He seemed to be prodding
the logical male, poking at him to see if he'd reveal any taste
of emotion. The Gil Elf and their main body counterparts didn't
often meet, even with the inclusion of the Gil Elf into the
Legion. They remained on opposite sides of the fence.
Krin nodded to the commander and started to walk off. Over the
years Rek had gotten used to the fact that the shadow was not
particularly fond of taking or carrying out orders. He was damn
good at flying a space ship, but poor at doing as he was told.
He was useful, and that's why he was kept around...considering
there aren't many other species that can stare space right in
the face and not go mad with the emptiness. "I'm going to find
my quarters on my own if you don't mind," he called back as he
was already a distance down the hallway.
"...You'll have to excuse my eccentric pilot, and first mate.
He's er...you know, a shadow...they come and go," Rek mused and
chuckled a bit. He wondered if Krin's passe attitude would
effect this James fellow. It was like a grand experiment, to
figure out how to wiggle things loose in the poor commanders
       head.

James' eyes flicked to te swishing tail, then back up to the
Captain's face. He listened and blinked a couple times,"You wish
me to give you a tour then, Captain?" he asked, but nodded once.
"Very well." With a small motion of his hand, two of the crew
he'd brought with him moved up, "Show the Captain's engineers to
       the damaged sector."
The two nodded with 'yes, sir.' and started moving, "This way
       please."
The last crew stepped up and James nodded, "Show those who wish
to rest their quarters.... including the shadow." he said,
motioning the direction the Krin went, "We don't need another
incident aboard the station." the man nodded and rushed to catch
up with Krin first. "Alright then, Captain, shall I show you
       around now?"
The little crew member caught up with Krin and looked at him,
"The resting quarters are this way, sir." he pointed the
opposite direction, staring blankly at Krin.

"Resting?" Krin inquired. "Oh I was looking for the fun
actually...is there any around? I wanted to gam.ble..." He
raised a brow. "You must have entertainment somewhere right?" He
looked around with a bit of a scowl on his face. He chuckled
       then.
The engineers quickly followed after the crewman, eager to do
their duties and explore the unique workings of the Station.
They looked like giddy school kids.
The Captain smiled at James and started to walk next to him, how
fun it would be poking and prodding at the logical man. Rek'lial
was not an especially logical man, the same thing that made him
a great leader also made him irrational. Passion drove him to
the stars and drove him towards sometimes awkward situations.
"Lovely place eh?" he purred and nodded. "Yeah...lets see it,
the deepest station...far into the frontier..." His tail
mischievously touched against the other Elf's leg, while Rek
pretended like he didn't have any control of it.

The man looked rather.. lost by the word. "Gam.ble? We don't
have anything like that here.. not that I know of.." he said,
thinking but shrugged, "I could show you to the lounge... though
I'm not sure if it is what you're meaning." he said softly.
The crew man stepped into a more damaged sector, but at least
the air had been fixed there, they didn't need masks yet. There
was, however, a set up not far off where they would need suits
and masks in order to continue on.The crew man nodded, "Here we
are... the damaged sector is beyond, though you will all needs
suits and masks on in order to get to it.."
James walked calmly, "It is simply a space station, there's not
much special about it, really." he said softly, looking towards
the tail but not making any motion that he cared as he kept
going. "Over here we have a research lab.. we're not doing much
in here.." he wandered into the empty room, motioning to it and
thinking a moment, "I think there's still something in here..."
he walked further in, poking around until he found an old
journal, "Hmm?" it seemed he didn't even know what this was. He
was a logical being and didn't like the unknown.

Krin snorted with mild disgust. "No drinking? No Gambling...what
a Shitty joint...I'd figure there would be something beyond
sitting around staring at holoscreens..." he muttered and waved
to the crew member. "Yeah yeah take me to the lounge I guess...I
have some holo programs I've been meaning to enjoy..." He looked
out one of the stations many windows, the darkness of space was
thicker here. They were at the edge of the galaxy...the edge of
light. No wonder there weren't that many people out here, most
would probably go crazy...for him he felt a stillness when he
looked out into the never ending dark. He could see an echo of
himself, cold, empty darkness. "...lovely place you got here,
       beautiful sight..."
The Engineers agreed and suited up to go and do their job.
Rek looked around the research room and smirked. "Nothing
special about a space station made from the empty corpse of a
big silicon brain...sure sure..." he mused and chuckled. He
noted the man's look as he gazed at the mysterious notebook. Rek
being who he is, snatched the book and flipped through it.
"...Oh looks to be about the brain...must have been monitoring
it's activity when the thing was first found...I find this brain
fascinating..." He dropped the book onto the table. "...isn't it
curious, someone would build this intelligence, this massive
computer brain. Then they'd just abandon it here...I wonder who
made it...who abandoned it...whether he's alone or maybe there
are more stations like this one..."

The man blinked, "Well, I apologize if it is not to your
liking." he said softly, motioning and leading him to a lounge
quietly. There was a large viewing window here, roomy with some
seats and books about. There was also a Shade sitting there,
staring out into the space. There wasn't a book the man hadn't
read here, there wasn't a thing he hadn't seen.. But it bored
him. He was not one of these emotionless people, he wanted
entertainment that never came! With a sigh, he tossed aside the
book he had read for the.. however many times it was.
James listened and shrugged, but as the book was snatched, his
hands followed it, trying to get it back. For a brief second, he
looked frustrated. He snatched the book up again when it was
dropped, flipping through it himself, "Maybe there was a reason
it was left.." he muttered with a blank look once more.
