Monthly events?
By: Griff Grof Date: May 31, 2019, 3:27 am

I was just wondering whether there’d be any interest in holding
monthly (evening) events?
Nothing complicated, I was thinking it could be as simple as
booking a table in a pub each month (maybe the same pub each
time). I’ve attended a few of the ones in Cambridge and they’re
nice events. I know there are some around, like Cheltenham, but
that’s quite a long way for some of us for an evening event.

Would gladly attend a monthly event in a pub not too far away
from home. 8)

Cotswold caching did that for a while but with us spread out and
having to find a different pub, it fizzled out.
I know some groups use it as an opportunity to sort out some
difficult puzzle caches or plan caching days but the main aim is
just have a chat, with no pressure on the event organiser.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Something where it’s the
same pub (so no pressure thinking where to go next) and just
chat, no pressure on the organiser except calling to book a
table once a month. :)
If we go ahead, does anyone have any ideas of a pub or date?
Which days of the week are good for people?
Of course, Snowshill Arms comes to mind - it would have to be in
the main pub (as it could be £25 each time if they get someone
to man the bar in the skittle alley) but it might be good to try
somewhere different?
Dates - Cheltenham is the last week of the month, on a weeknight
(normally). So, maybe the second Wednesday evening of each
month?
Obviously everything is flexible and nothing’s set in stone yet,
just discussing it for now :)

It's a really good idea, but as the area you are talking about
to meet is quite far for us to travel on a monthly basis we
probably could only manage to get to a few meetings. If the pub
allowed dogs in we could work it in with a geocaching walk
during the afternoon - Tilly would never forgive us if we went
caching without her!

Perhaps we should organise another skittles event as we haven't
had one for almost 2 years, and discuss the possibility of
monthly events while there? Might be easier than on the forum.

You took the words out of my mouth ;)
This I think is a good way forward :D

Funnily enough George also mentioned a skittles evening as well
- something to focus on but also a good time to have a chat
about meetings. Jenny and George.
