Weird episode with my Garmin yesterday
By: hogsunters Date: April 23, 2016, 2:52 am

While we were out caching yesterday my Garmin totally 'locked
up' - the only way to get any action from it was to take the
batteries out, put them back and then it worked again [But I
didn't do that till I got home as I thought I would loose all
the info ie the caches I had put in. I couldn't even switch it
of and re-boot it.
Before this happened the compass was doing a tango, hardly
settled and kept giving different directions and distances -
kept me a spin! At the same time George's smart phone was also
misbehaving - similar action [but it didn't 'lock up']. So all
in all it was difficult to home in on the caches.
The area we were in was by a canal, but also a main train line
which was quite busy.
Can anyone throw any light onto what was happening please? Many
thanks for any help. Jenny :)

If you've got a Garmin Oregon 600 series, they do lock up for no
apparent reason. I've got a 650 and that locks up even so often
- so its batteries out, back in and all is well again.

Thanks WT - sounds just like mine, and yes I have an Oregon 600
series. Wonder what causes it? If there is a Garmin stand at the
Welsh Mega they might be able to explain it - they sorted out a
problem for me at the Essex Mega last year.

My 450 does it from time to time as well.
