So, how was your caching year?
By: Bear and Ragged Date: December 12, 2015, 10:37 am

As we come to the end of the caching year, how did yours go?
At the start of the year, did you have any caching plans. Must
do's, would like to do's, aiming for any kind of streak?
Have you been successful/hope to be successful by the end of the
       year?
       Any 'unplanned' successes?
Any aims/similar aims for next year?

Streak-wise I try for a 'cache a month' and have been
successful, with only December still to find.
Did try to find 'at least one' a day if I found one, but not too
       successful!
Every year I try for the furthest North/South/East/West that I
can, and this year managed to extend my furthest South of 'all
       time'.
       North: N 57° 28.808, SideTracked - Inverness GC4TJXB
       South: N 50° 22.721, Sidetracked - Devonport Station GC2BBZY
East: E 0° 58.813, Bridge over the River Thet GC3GKQ7
       West: W 4° 34.021, Auchincruive B743 GC29RRP
Always try for one of the old Virtual caches, if I'm not too far
away, and managed to pick up a couple this year. ;D
And have managed to find a few SideTracked, and a couple of
Church Micros... The SideTracked do seem more popular, for the
       areas I've been to...
The SideTracked Series was a concerted effort, after SideTracked
       Bearley - Challenge Cache
  HTML http://coord.inf
       o/GC57D5F was
published, and I had the required number of caches, but not the
       required number of counties!
Also a SideTracked is my furthest North, and furthest South for
       the year.

I think the only thing I achieved this year was to achieve
       nothing

First full caching year but for various reasons not been able to
get to the target of 1000 caches been a rubbish 247 this year
after making getting the last years target of 500 in 8 months.
Have managed to keep the streak of getting a FTF each month
going from May 2014 to now but thats looking shaky not maaged to
get December 2015 yet and time is running out.
Next years plans to keep the FTF streak going or restarted if I
fail this month and just get out more hopefully on a few trails

       Great thread.
To begin with, I, similarly to [member=6]Bear and
Ragged[/member], wanted to find a cache a month - believe it or
not, I have always missed one or two months a year for one
reason or another. So far, I have succeeded, but still haven't
found one for this month :o - hope to find as many as possible
in the next couple of weeks, though.
This is partly also due to the fact that I set myself the target
of beating my most in a year, 522. I am currently on 510, which
       isn't bad considering I've only found 29 since August - I hope
to get as near to 600/#2300 as possible! (90 caches to go for
       both - can I realistically do it?  ::) )
Another thing I wanted to do was find my 2000th. I did this at
the end of July, and found 100 caches throughout the same week,
beating my best in a month at the same time - but by just a
       couple of caches :o
What haven't I achieved? My next series is still not published
(it WILL be next June, after exams), I've not found 100+ in a
day and I haven't really filled in as much of my D/T grid as I
had hoped. But there's always next year ;D
So, next year I hope I achieve the above and it would also be
great to reach my 3000th - or, at the very least, as near to it
       as possible!
I usually write a blog entry reviewing my year's caching nearer
to the end of the year, announcing which cache I have crowned
best of the year. So keep an eye out for that if you're
       interested in reading more :)
But it's not all about the numbers, and I've been to some great
places this year and found some special caches :)

New Year, review of last year...
       Extremes:
       North cache: N 57° 28.808, SideTracked - Inverness GC4TJXB
       South cache: N 50° 22.721, Sidetracked - Devonport Station
       GC2BBZY
East cache: E 0° 58.813, Bridge over the River Thet GC3GKQ7
       West cache: W 4° 34.021, Auchincruive B743 GC29RRP
       Furthest: SideTracked - Inverness GC4TJXB - 379 miles
       Caches Found in 40 Counties.
Managed to get into and around Edinburgh, but never managed to
get time to look/find a cache, so I've still got a few blank
       counties there... (All time)
Been to Wales several times during the year, but never
       looked/found a cache last year...
       'Numbers' -wise:
       10 Church Micros
       45 SideTrackeds
       10 Virtuals (inc 2 YOSM)
       9 caches placed before 2005
       1 2001 Oldest Found History Cache : 1497?
  HTML http://coord.inf
       o/GC2613
       4 2002
       4 2003
2 Billy Twigger caches and 1 John Stead. (For those 'older'
/long time cachers, who may remember the names)
       Cache Types:
       136 Traditional
       10 Virtual
       2 Earth
       1 Mystery
No caches looked for/found in December, so no 'One a month'
       streak...
       Aims for 2016.
Fill in the blanks around Edinburgh!
       Extremes N/S/E/W again.
Try to get a few more in the counties with only 1 or 2 finds so
       far.
