You are just after This Daughter Climbed a Mountain - Gallt y
       Wenallt
  HTML http://coord.inf
       o/GC1CMDD cache aren't you?
I don't remember it being that difficult but I came off Snowdon
and along the ridge via Y Lliwedd to Gallt y Wenallt. It will be
a tough walk up to Gallt y Wenallt.
Here's a pic I took looking back along the ridge to Snowdon off
       Gallt y Wenallt.

Are we all happy to do the Rhyd Ddu path?
It is on the opposite side of the mountain to the railway
station so there may be some ferrying of people required (My
wife for example who will be unable to walk the mountain and
       can't drive for herself)
A profile of the walk is here

I think that that's a good one, and I believe there are some
caches along certain parts of it? Or am I getting confused with
       another one?
Unfortunately it is now looking like I will be unable to attend
this event, with my dad having been given the dates for his next
trip today. He might be able to tweak the dates around, but it
       is looking highly unlikely... :'(

I've been tweaking dates and wife's happy with me going the
Friday evening and not setting off back home till Wednesday, so
that will give me 4 clear days for walking & caching in
       Snowdonia ;D ;D ;D
So, no last minute changes because I will not know about them.

I have a question,as someone who is not use to climbing on this
scale,is it wise i climb or take the train?.Clare will be taking
the train, but i am keen to climb, but looking at the paths you
have discussed on here i am a little concerned.I could do with a
little advice on what the best cause of action should be for
       me,as i'm not sure. ???

Firstly and most importantly I am more than happy to go at the
pace of the slowest person, I have to be honest and say that
since I have got fatter and unhealthier over the last few years
my last two ascents have resulted in me having to stop a couple
       of times. :-[
Perhaps you could give us some idea how you get on with some of
the local hills such as Cotswolds, Bredon and the Malverns.

Plus...... It's £25 on the train. How much more of an incentive
to walk up do you want.
And only those who walk up are allowed to eat a special summit
       cafe Welsh Oggie ;) ;) ;D

I got on well with Bredon, didn't stop once :)
I am so, so upset that my dad is travelling during these times,
you can't imagine how sad I feel that I'm likely to miss out not
only on a CacheWalker event, but a hike up a mountain. :'(

It's a great feeling when you get to the top under your own
power. Like John, I'm not as fast or as fit as I used to be and
it's sensible to have scenic breaks ::)
Good COMFORTABLE walking shoes with ankle support are a must and
clothing that you can layer. I find three layers the best
system, first layer to wick sweat away from your skin, next
layer to keep your warm, perhaps wind proof as well and the
third layer to keep you dry and wind proof if your 2nd layer
isn't. The idea with the layer system, is that you can remove or
add as the conditions change or how you feel. Gloves and a hat
are a good idea as well, especially when you stop and start to
       cool down.
You'll need water or similar to keep you hydrated and some
food/sweets for energy. There is a cafe at the top but the
prices are high and could be busy.
I do hope it isn't cloudy when we get to the top, it's a great
view and there are a few caches to find if you still have the
       energy ;D
John, how long would you guess it will take to get up there, 3
       hours or so?

Well i managed Bredon pretty well with a stop or two, would you
say that this climb is about twice as strenuous or three or four
       times than a Bredon climb?...............................,or
       more! :o
