Filling in some gaps - Bourton on the Water
By: Dunploddin Date: June 6, 2014, 6:44 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Greetings from Malaga,
I was born and brought up in Bourton on the Water, living there
from 1948 - 1970. My 93 yr old father still lives in sheltered
accommodation in the village and we visit him when we can. Other
than Dad I have no other family ties to the area and I fear that
before too long I won't have reason to visit.
Bourton is sadly short of geocaches and, when my father
eventually passes away, I would like to place a walking series
around the village taking people to corners seldom seen by
non-locals. Clearly, given my location, cache maintenance would
be problematical for me! Therefore I would be looking for a
local geocaching group or individual who would be willing to
adopt them and undertake this task for me once I have placed
them.
Would you know of anyone who might be willing? Of course it
would make sense to place them together and it would be my
pleasure to exchange caching stories over a pint or three.
Regards,
Dunploddin

Hello! Thanks for introducing yourself, our second member from
Malaga now (the other is Wacky races) :)
I agree that Bourton is short of caches in the immediate area,
and so I would love to see some new ones there!
Unfortunately I already have seventy caches of my own, and I am
set to adopt a couple of other local series' very soon... But I
really do hope that another one of us offers to help you as it's
a good idea, and I do look forward to finding the caches when
you get round to it! ;D

Thanks Grif Grof,
Hopefully I won't have to put this series in for a while yet as
despite his advanced age Dad is still firing on all 8 cylinders!
It is just an idea I have had rolling around in my mind for a
while so I'm doing a bit of pre-planning.

Sounds interesting but depends on the caches.

Hi
Just been looking in the Bourton area as we are hoping to attend
the Splash Mob event next weekend and was obviously going to
take in the nearby caches which totalled 1 for the whole village
so can see the need for more in the area.
My eldest son is currently planning a few caches around our area
and hopes to get them in place in the next few weeks (just
working out who/if permission is needed from Cheltenham Council)
and he is already wanting to find other areas to place them and
has identified Bourton for at least one (will be checking it out
at the weekend) just showed him this thread and he said he would
certainly be interested in adopting the series and making sure
its maintained regularly.

Thank your son for me, greatly appreciated. I'll be in touch
before my next UK visit which will probably be this autumn
sometime.
