7 bore event 02.02.14 Archived

GC4VTVG - has been archived due to flooding danger. Feel sorry
for the locals who, unlike us lot, can't pick and choose.
We'll be going to the Cheeserollers do at lunchtime though, all
being well.

I guess this was the most sensible decision. But I wonder if the
event could have just been moved to a safer location as a lot of
people were going to attend, some from quite a distance who have
booked up places to stay in the area. I don't know the location
well though, so maybe there was not another suitable place to
host it.

GCJRBH Windmill Hill was close by, we did it in 2006 I think -
you can get an idea of the area from photos posted on that cache
page. I had pm'ed the CO suggesting a change of location...

Did I read somewhere that there is the possibility for another
good bore (is that the correct term?) next month, maybe a 4*?
Maybe if Dave does not decide to un-archive the event and change
the location of this event he may use the location and do an
event next month.
I have not done the Earth Cache there yet, so as I could not
make this event myself anyway I may go do next month.

Yep, only other 5* bore this year is on the 3rd March, I
believe, on a Monday. We've been going to do the cache for ages
but haven't got our act together yet...
Did pop down to see a 3*, I think it was, because we were handy
but before we were caching - even that was quite spectacular!

It's a shame, as you say there were people traveling from quite
a way away.
But, hey, the Gloucestershire is countryside is so beautiful it
won't be a day wasted if they wonder around the area, should all
access to the bore be closed ;D

If you still want to see it, Over bridge N51°52.466 W002°16.078
is a good spot, you just have to decide were to park.
This is the view you get zoomed in as there is a rail bridge
there(taken on 8 Oct 06):

I'm going to park up in the Quedgeley area and walk to one of
the alternative spots that isn't on the flood warning areas.
