Which forum should new threads go on?

As there are two forums in the Cotswolds but as I see it,
covering different areas with a bit of overlap, what criteria do
you use to decide which forum you post a new thread on?

I don't post that many new threads but I would use the one that
I felt would be most appropriate. If I am honest and it is just
a general thread that applies to both then at the moment I tend
to lean towards Cotswold Caching purely as it has more active
members.
Perhaps ** he says whilst ducking ** it is time to merge and
only run one forum. Or, just go with the flow and don't worry
about it.

I usually post depending on what area it covers e.g. Swindon -
post on CC, Banbury - post on CW, etc and if it isn't geocaching
then on CC. General stuff, depends on the subject but would need
to check what threads I've started which forum I favour. I might
find it's CC due to the fact this forum covers all caching
sites.
The quietness of CW isn't helped as we are quite spread out and
quite rural in places but I still think this forum has its place
and should keep adding a link to it on messages, as other
cachers might not be aware of the forum, so might join. Very
recently, I've tweaked my email set-up, so I can respond
directly giving out my email address and this has a footer with
links to the forums.
CC has some members quite close to each other, so find they
interact in the real world, so this adds to the chit chat on the
forum. CC also covers other caching sites like TerraCaching.

[walktall grabs tin hat] ::)
Cachers still use this forum, so as TJ says "just go with the
flow and don't worry about it."

Yes, there is a problem here :D

This is the problem - with no one willing to post new topics on
this forum, CC will remain the more active site. A forum won't
work if you don't post - stats-wise, I have posted 210 topics,
Site Admin (wonder who that is :D) second at 100 and the first
member after that is TJ at 40, then the first non-site team
member is Stickbouncer at 12 :o - think that speaks volume.
There cannot be posts without topics, and we need topics to
entice the lurkers to post :(
I'd like to think I post as much topics on CC as CW, but of
course I'm going to be biased towards CW as it was here first
and was the first forum I joined.

Partially agree - but we aren't that far, and hold regular
events which should really add chit chat - well, it does - in
event months, our post-count doubles if not triples to that of
the previous month. There's nothing saying that this site
doesn't incorporate other caching sites, it's just not obvious,
true :)

CC and CW have proven to work very well together, but the area
overlap hasn't helped. I think CW is heading to the dustbin as a
result :'( BUT they have coexisted extremely well and, in the
first instance, there was a monthly increase in posts after it's
launch, up until May 2013 where a monthly decline begins. I like
both forums, so wouldn't like either of them to go.
It's a shame, as the buzz of the Butcher's Bash and Snowdon
event propelled the forum into a frenzy of activity; we posted
761 times in the first 30 days of this forum! By posting new
topics and replying to all you can (ah-hem, Where in the World
;D), the forum can flourish like never before.
I've tried my best, but it's your choice, as the forum members.

Personally I use CC because it's close to me geographically.
Like mentioned above some of us do interact IRL quite often and
it's a good place to carry on the interaction without having to
use the dreaded FB.
Since joining CW I have visited the site, but it's not in my
"routine" yet. If one of the kids closes my tabs it might be a
while before I think to check here. Although some threads are
mirrored there are some interesting ones that I have read
through and the prospect of more CW walks/events will keep me
looking.
Should there be a merge to CCW? Looking at it as a relative
newcomer here I don't think there would be too much difference.
The hard core posters would carry on, and the lurkers will
continue to lurk. My 2 pence worth.
