I must admit I read it as 'dipping' would not be counted, I did
wonder how this was going to be implemented though. Maybe you
need to reword Rule 5, something like the following:
From:
"Virtual drops (Dipping) will not be counted - TBs must be
dropped & collected by different Cachers (if moved on by the
same Cacher only the FIRST jump will be counted)"
To:
"TBs must be dropped & collected by different Cachers (if moved
on by the same Cacher only the FIRST jump will be counted,
regardless of 'Visited' or 'Dropped Off' log, any subsequent
logs by the same Cacher will not be counted)."

It does seem that this has caused some confusion but this rule
was discussed in last year's race and I thought we had sorted it
out.
I know I was trying to stop a cacher dipping my TB due to this
rule:
[quote author=walktall link=topic=243.msg5386#msg5386
date=1374011137]
My bike needs a new gear box or at least another cacher, as it
is being 'dipped' at the moment :(
A tweak of the wording could be best, so cachers understand that
it is the first cache "Dropped Off" or "Visited" that counts
when a cacher dips a TB.
And what about none physical caches where there is no box to put
your TB in i.e. Earth, Web cam & Virtual, can these count as the
first cache as they can only be "Visited" by the TB?

Rule 5 that was added by race organiser states that virtual
drops (dipping) will not be counted. But the TB-run rules state
that only the 1st placed/visit will count. So, as far as I can
see if the 1st movement of the TB is a dip then it WILL count
I've been agreeing with you on this for previous posts - yes,
it's not clear, but the rule says the first jump will count but
dipping will not count for total mileage i.e. if a cacher were
to dip it to every cache they visit, hoping to help add mileage,
it will not count.
So, I agree, Gaz Zippy, this needs to be amended, was planning
to do so this afternoon :) - I will change this to your wording.
As WT says, this rule has always been there, since the dawn of
the CWSBC - I didn't write any of them myself - other than the
two added this year.
I don't remember any confusion for last year's race. It's always
said that virtual drops will not be counted - so indeed you were
right - but what has that got to do with the first jump?
I think that it could be an error on TB-run's side, as I cannot
remember any one complaining about this last year. This is why,
although far more complicated, Mel's way of recording the
mileage by hand was better :D
Now another problem :o - won't name names, but there are some
participants who have started to cache together and have been
placing their TBs in a cache, each one taking another's out,
traveling far to another cache together, placing, taking another
out etc etc - basically, twisting the rules 'Footballers cannot
move their own TBs along' - but they are present with the people
moving. Have had some complaints and one request from someone
wishing to withdraw from the race, as this isn't right - any
suggestions for what to do??

You cannot write a rule for every eventuality unfortunately...
common sense should prevail, it is a shame that someone wants to
leave the race based on the actions of others though, I thought
this was supposed to be a bit of fun?
Ok I own up...... I moved a fellow cachers footballer TB on, I
moved it a whole one mile, so I didn't see that as a problem ;D

I wouldn't worry about it, they have only added approx 100
miles. It will be immaterial by the end of the year

Hmm, by the looks of things, this is now happening on a greater
scale  ::)
A TB has picked up several thousand miles. The owner has found
both the cache it was placed in and the one it was retrieved
from.
But they haven't logged the TB - another 'cacher' retrieved and
placed it in the cache, and has logged a found too - but not on
the cache they retrieved it from - but the TB owner has found
that one :-\
Both accounts logged the cache the TB is in now on the same
date.
Not going to rush to accusations, but what do you think? I may
be blowing this out of proportion - or am I?

I smell a rat :o. But am I bothered....... Not really, people
choose how they play the game. Shit happens.
I could have got a friend to take mine to Canada but there
didn't seem much point.
