Trackable items Etiquette

Hi,
I found my first TB and Geocoins at the weekend! :) I moved
TB4WYF4 onto a Cerney Wick cache near the Cotswold Gateway, but
then I took a Geocoin TB5MPM9 from there and put it over at
Lechlade..
I noticed from the geocoin logs that someone had put it at the
Gateway location to keep it near to the A roads and motorways,
so feel like I may have been unhelpful by moving this...
Should I have checked the item's objective online before moving
it blindly onto another cache? Are there any tips you could give
me for dealing with trackables?
I'm fairly happy with discovering & logging them - most posts I
read on GC.com appeared to do with people not doing this in a
timely fashion..
Thanks,
Steven

I've got to confess, I hardly ever look at the mission or TB
page in general :o :D
As far as I can see, as long as you move it on relatively soon
from retrieving it, you're fine :)
Having said that, it probably is good practice to check the
mission, and something I should probably start doing too! :D

If the owner of a trackable is serious about it's mission, the
trackable should have a brief mission label attached to the
trackable. This will stop them being moved off mission by
cachers, especially if a cacher is on holiday.
I do normally check the trackable's home page to check the
mission when caching from home.
Usually the important bit, is not to hold onto them tooooo long
but sometimes this happens. I'm guilty of this now and again
especially with my reduced caching rate at the moment and too
many small caches.
