Twixmas 2K13 (past event)
By: Griff Grof Date: September 13, 2013, 12:30 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Ok, ok - this is still AGES away :D ;)
BUT it's good to get the ball rolling as early as possible
(remember the picnic event? :D) and have a thread here if
anyone wants to make any comments in the months to come - plus,
this isn't too early, as the event listing could technically be
submitted at the end of the month,
Was caching with walk tall a few months back (thanks again! ;D)
and the subject briefly arose in conversation that perhaps this
year it could just be the pub part of the event, as we all seem
to be so busy ;)
I'm certainly doubtful I will have as much time to devote to
this event as I did last year, and probably many more of us are
also set to be busy.
If someone wants to set a walk, then even better! ;D Or, we
could do a nice walk in the area, which some may or may not have
done. Or, again, just keep it simple, have a good chat, hand out
CWSBC prizes etc.
With regards to venue, perhaps The Coach and Horses, which
'recently' changed ownership, and they seem very walker
friendly:
There are many great walks around this area and we have
many walking groups that begin and end at the pub. If you know
you or a group are going to be walking we allow cars to be
parked in the morning and will gladly let you use our facilities
before you set off. We have a tailor made “walkers lunch menu”
which incorporates our most popular dishes, soups and sandwiches
- some as half sized portions should you not wish to undo all
your hard work ! We would request that you inform us of your
choices before setting off to allow us to have your food ready
upon your return even during our busy times.
Sooo... this is basically seeing what people's thoughts are,
whether we should or shouldn't have one this year (remember
SanguG is organizing the CWP one for 3/11) and maybe the
discussion will wake the forum up? ;)
That's me done for now, any more thoughts as and when you have
them :)

Looking at Griff's quote, it is this Coach & Horses
HTML http://www.coachandhorsesganborough.co.uk
at Ganborough, the one
we've had an event at some time ago.
They are friendly there, Jill and I went there for one of their
curry nights :)

Lovely pub and good food, looked after us well when we had the
event there.I placed the Swells and Wells walk for that one.
We enjoy the Twixmas events and think we should have one this
year.

I suppose the big question is:
Do we want the traditional walk before hand?
And if so, new caches (it could be just a few new ones) or not?

Good we have a poll for this now :)
I think it'd be great to have a group walk with some new or
existing caches - it's CW tradition and everyone had fun last
year :)
Had lunch in the Coach and Horses yesterday, and can definitely
approve the delicious food and service ;D

Twixtmas wouldn't be Twixtmas without a good walk first. We
love to come and stay the night in the area to then go and walk.
Once we know where it will be we can start finding a B&B.

Any more thoughts/ideas on this one?
I think the event could be another success, even more so than
last year, it has been very quiet around here recently and we've
got all the Superbike participants to invite too :)

Coach & Horses is a good pub but there are quite a few active
caches already round it, seeing how the vote is going for a walk
with new caches.
I was wondering if there are other pubs that have room for new
caches to be placed near-by for the pre-event walk?
Or, the pre-event walk is at a different location to the pub
i.e. Coach & Horses; this has happened on a previous CW event?
