Last year I heard my first Cuckoo on the 29th May - well they
were earlier this year, as I heard my first today near Gawcombe
while walking Archie this afternoon :)

Yep, interesting wasn't it? Definitely more Goldfinches than
       Greenfinches here too.
Last year there were regularly three Cuckoo's around here, this
year I've only heard two at any one time once.

Not yet but we've been meaning to, Bill Oddie is back isn't he?
The nature reserve they're in looks nice too.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but why did they bring BO
       back?
We can't stand him, he's too smart to fit in with the bumbling
uncle character and way behind the other presenters on
knowledge. We did meet him once and he struck us as very
arrogant, a view that I've heard from others who have also met
       him.
Now Iolo Williams is a completely different matter.
We usually record the prog and fast forward the bits where they
       are squittering...

I've heard that he does 'rub up' a lot of people the wrong way

We didn't mind BO at all, but I see what you're saying.
Didn't he rise to fame as a singer or something?
