Re: How about a CITO event?

The few times I have been there I don't remember seeing any
litter. It is a great location for a normal event though, great
views, lots of parking, and public conveniences.
This way, a few parts of disused canals are looking shabby. A
part of the Thames and Severn, not far from where I am holding
my event on Saturday, I was quite upset the other day to see
someone had fly tipped a lot of junk into the canal. And the
path along another disused stretch of canal between Cirencester
industrial estate and Siddington Village often has a lot of
litter, and waste packaging bits which I guess blow over from
the nearby units.
Are there any similar stretches of old waterways / railway lines
up your way that need attention?

I meant to say that the Rangers at Crickley Hill didn't feel
there is a litter problem there.
I'm trying to think of some where near by (in the Cotswolds)
that has a litter problem and would be worth doing but having
problems thinking of any where :o :)
Do we need to go to a more built-up area of the Cotswolds to
find litter?

Other than the canal I mentioned, nothing else is springing to
mind as to having a major litter problem. I see odd bits of
litter here and there, but not enough to organise a cito event
for. The immediate area where I live is looked after by, not
just the local council, but also the Chesterton Community
Project, who walk the area litter picking, and so it's rare to
see mass amounts of litter.

From Cotswold Caching, Pir8sold&new - Putting here as it's
where the main discussion is taking place.
Hi All,
I know I'm new here and in the caching community, but after
sending a message to Gackt yesterday, he suggested joining the
forums.
I had previous looked around for any local CITO events, and
after completing a local series to me on Sunday loved the walk,
but was sad about the amount of dumped litter. I wondered if a
CITO would qualify in helping the local spot, allow people to
complete a small series and for it not to take a whole day to
achieve a 2.5 ish mile walk along a countryside road on a sunday
morning?
I've contacted the Cache series owners for any thoughts on it,
and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or tips. The Series
I have in question is the Common Road Series near Malmesbury.
Also to add another cache to the route as an encouragement.
Before raising it with local authorities, I wanted to ask others
what they thought.
Cheers
Any thoughts ???
I think this could be a good idea, and the fact that it's a
circular walk with caches to find is nice :D

Thanks Griff, I hadn't checked on here first.
Oh and on the matter of it being where it is, I will speak to
the local council just to check what they might think.
