Not having been to one of these events before, can I ask if the
caches being hidden for it, are they just for the event, or will
they be actual published caches on GC.com? Just wondering, not
for any particular reason, just wondering.

The caches will be published on the day of the Event for the
people attending the pre-Event walk to find first but these will
       be regular caches :)

The caches will, as WT said, be published on GC.com as normal
caches (I think only traditional caches this time?)
Those wishing to go on the pre-event group walk will have the
option to be sent a GPX files of all the caches on the series,
so that on the walk they can have a go at finding the cache and
claiming an FTF (whereas some people will just chat all the way
and watch others find the caches, you can still claim a find on
it either way!) The caches won't be published on GC.com until
around noon though, to make sure it is only cachers on the group
       walk who find them first.
And then these caches will stay in place permanently (well,
until Wrighty archives them in many years time?) so they can be
found just as normal caches thereafter.
       For example, this series
  HTML http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=6e84a995-0830-4eb6-92bd-4f72e6be3aff<br
/>was hidden for the pre-event group walk at a CacheWalker event
in February. Still going and caches being found regularly...
Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see on 19th Feb that 20ish
cachers have all logged a find as part of the group.
Hope that walk tall and I have helped? :)

Understand, thanks for explaining. I have been to events where
non-published caches have been laid out for attendees only, but
I guess published ones may draw in a few more attendees.

40 confirmed as eating so far :o
Did the pub say 30 was the max for eating? Or was it 60? Should
we say "if you want to eat, the pub can only serve x amount,
       first come first served" :-\
Going to be a good turnout I think! ;D

       Multiple sittings?
New Question for the cache page:
Do you prefer the first sitting, the second sitting, or have no
       preference? ;D

Perhaps, though we have to be out of the pub 2 hours from
arriving so time is tight enough already :o

It is going to be what the pub can cope with rather than
       multiple sittings :o :)

Just got a reply back from them :) Sandra said that they could
probably do up to 50 comfortably, but any more than that would
mean they may have to reconsider the menu options (shorten them,
I guess?) So no worries right now ;D
They also said if we could make people preorder in their logs,
thus why an announcement has been made ;) ;D
Get posting notes pre-ordering your food! ;D ;D

       Mmmm.
At the meeting at the pub they said they could cater for up to
60 people eating as i stated in a previous post.Must admit i was
surprised to see six choices of food on offer, would have thought
four would have been sufficient to cater for our needs.
We also agreed at the meeting that we would hand out a list of
the options before the walk for people to make their choice and
then give this to the pub to get the food ready whilst we were
on the walk and seemed quite happy with this arrangement.
Anyway it seems the way its going we will have to put a limit on
       the number of people eating.
