checking it. However, it Will be open this time next week, and
if I still don't get a reply will call him... But I'll come to

This thread has become very quiet while we're waiting :o :D

OK but take it slow with him, as I'm sure he is a busy man and
if you push, he might just say no.

Hi,
I have been reading the log for the Cachewalker 5 year event
2012, and for all the hard work Arthur that you have done, you
seem to have come across a bit of a brick wall.
We have not responded before now, as Arthur you have been doing
a sterling job, with organising events of this kind; though on
this one it kind of feels like an episode of The Apprentice is
being played out! There seems to be some disagreement within the
camp on what to do and where to go next.
Arthur, a little advice.... it is ok to know someone, who knows
someone at the farm park; however the monkey and the Organ
Grinder springs to mind. Adams sister is fine, but she has no
power up at the farm park... sorry if we are being a little
blunt, but with such an important event as this, and time well
ok not exactly running away from you yet... but, it is
surprising how quick it will do, .. you need answers soon.
Emailing Adam will not get very far, he has very little time
spare, and most organising is done by the the park operations
manager Kate Henderson, and assistant Andy Cole.
I hope we (The Foraging 5) have not jumped anyone's gun, but we
thought we could help a little here, and move things on a little
:-
Simon (Forager 1) met Andy Cole and Adam on Friday, this is the
outcome :
1: For an initial enquiry the farm park are ok for the
Cachewalker event to be held there in September.
2: They need numbers. (minimum group entry is 20)
3: There is a charge, Currently : - Adults £7.15 Children £5.50
(payment is required as a lump sum).
4 : Once numbers are known, the farm park would look for an area
for us to use for a picnic, likely to be near the entrance and
by the marquee (there is a charge for the marquee if it were to
be used, though Andy could not cost this until there is more
structure to the event), though other areas can be set aside.
5: Andy is ok for a few caches on the 2 mile nature walk to be
placed for the event, though Adam was a little unsure on further
ones around the farm and its surrounding land. Andy thought we
may be able to leave the ones on the walk there permanently,
however there may be question over access for maintenance, more
discussion to be required on this point.
6: To move this forward and hopefully get official confirmation
from them, the farm park require a structured email detailing
the Cachewalker requirements with an itinerary, ...sooner rather
than later.
There are a few other issues, but can go through these at some
other point in time.
Again really sorry to jump the gun Arthur, but the wall was
quite a high one to climb. I think armed with the above you can
move on, ideally organising a committee meeting. I (Simon) would
be happy to attend if I am free, as a guest to help if you wish,
and put the email in to Andy.
Keep up the really good work Arthur, remember there are others
in this thread who have really good advice walking comes before
running.
