Blimey, not on for a few hours and there's loads of posts I've
missed :o
As already said, we need to see if Adam is OK with this,
otherwise we could plan loads only to find we can't hold it
there.
We need to check what is the policy about dogs at the farm?
It might be, that the walk before the Event, is a short drive
away, as the walk near the farm will be too long; CacheWalker
has done this before. Then placing caches on the walk could well
be less of a problem.
I agree, the Event needs to be the main focus, so it would be
great to have several things going on at the Event: raffle,
quiz, find the cache (stick a pin in a map), secret Birthday
presents, fancy dress prize, prize for the most ingenious cache
container (brought to the Event), etc.
I'll help all I can with the Event and walk; what will be the
best pub to meet at for the committee? ;D

Gosh, I go to sleep, and all these new ideas :o ;D
I like sumadartson's rough plan, any one disagree? If not, then
I'll just tell Adam that is what we'd be doing....
It's a good idea how there is a longer walk in the morning, then
an educational family friendly one in the afternoon :)
Will check the dog policy, and we could drive further for the
walk, if needed, but I think the route I suggested is a good
one, in fact, it was my dad who suggested it. I would say it was
a little less than 8 miles.
I'm already planning stuff myself, so I'll obviously be helping
mainly with the event and organising the main thing to begin
with, I might place a few caches nearby for people to go and get
on the day, also. When it comes to the right time, would you
like me to write the listing, as I could be in contact with Adam
if anything changes etc? I'd be more than happy to, I enjoy
writing them ;)
Let's just see if Adam gives us the thumbs up, and if so, then
we can arrange to meet somewhere and decide who is doing what
exactly.

Maybe then something along the lines of what walktall said
possibly.
A walk in the morning through till lunchtime away from the
park, and then all the rest of the time in the afternoon at the
park dedicated to the picnic, raffle, promoting caching etc and
whatever other ideas come our way.

Well, we would then need somewhere very close for it, and a lot
of good trails are taken up in the area.
In fact, as was brought up on the old forums, Guiting power is
the place for a new series, and so I just thought a route round
there could be Incorporated into the event, to avoid hassle
etc..
This is a direct quote from the old forum:
We would love to see a Twixmas event this year especially
after the success of the Flash in Stow and with lots more new
cachers in the area.
Will peruse the map and and ponder over my list of Donnington
pubs.
The Farmers Arms in Guiting Power as a skittle alley/function
room and as well as the pub parking you can park at the nearby
village hall.
Not too many caches in the area.
If we did put a route in another area however, I do think the
Farmers Arms would be a good venue for Twixmas itself, and so we
could always set caches along that walk then, and find a shorter
one closer by (short being 5 miles)
This is the map uploaded by Bear and Ragged back then, showing
the lack of walks in the area (other than some superb wrighty
walks)

Any thoughts?
Will probably be meeting up with Adam in 3-4 weeks time ;D

I remember posting the note about the Farmers Arms and did a
walk in the area not long after.Could be ideal for the event as
i have walked most of Griff Grofs proposed route and it will be
a struggle to find some good hides. We do want quality rather
than quantity.
Blimey he is even thinking about Twixmas now :o
Still all depends on Adam.

Is it me, or that doesn't make sense? ;D I understand that the
pub is good for the event, you've walked most of my proposed
route, but yet you said it would be a struggle to find some good
hiding places... I think I've confused myself ;) :D :D

Yes, I have to admit, have been researching pubs for Twixmas
:-[ Anyway, will get to that in 7 months time... but yes, it
does all depend on Adam...

Sorry Griff, what i meant was that the walk around Guiting Power
would be ideal for the picnic event.
Think we need to go further afield for Twixmas, running out of
room around here.

Oh, ok, now I get it - don't worry, looking back on things I
write, I think to myself "that doesn't make sense, what was I
meant to put?" ;D ;D
I think the route I suggested, as Wrighty said, is ideal for the
picnic, so why drive and do it somewhere else I've walked most
of the route I suggested, and it's smashing :) I have many
memories of walking along the Diamond Way part, from an early
age :) The route also has a good variation in terrain.
What I think is to have this longer route first for the
regulars, and then have an afternoon, short, family friendly
walk around the wildlife route, picking up the one multi.
Anyway, all of it depends on Adam, so perhaps we shouldn't start
making too much plans until we know for sure... Will be meeting
up with him in the next month or so :)
However, let's keep ideas and thoughts coming here to pitch to
him.
Twixmas is a long, long, long, long way away - we've only just
started the year, no where near the end. :D I'll make a thread
for planning Twixmas in August/September, we should concentrate
on this and Snowdon for now (if I can help it) :D ;) ;D

Just sent an e mail to Adam with the basic stuff, and so if he
wants to take it further, I've told him that we could meet in a
few weeks.
Now we wait  ::)
