i did all the injection and hoop jumping to get it installed. i
was able to join a server (albeit empty) and run a route.
Having to start over from scratch with all the loadout stuff
will take some time. I assume it is all pickups in discord as
it did not appear to have any pubbing going on. this makes
sense given the fact that you have to jump through 12 gyrations
of apps and verification steps just to create your account, most
people are not going to do that unless they are already there
for tribes in the first place. we'll see, it was nice to feel
it again but was never much of a pickup fan.

yea, felt kind of weird, like a movie you once loved that
doesn't quite holdup with time. something just feels off lol
not better with age in this case. Honestly not sure I want to
take the time to get back into it proper, think the memory at
this point is better than the current iteration.

The players and their arbitrary restrictions about how it should
be played are the issue. A quote I heard last night was that the
'plasma gun is a good weapon'. This would have been lampooned
on the old hi-rez forums. The meta on what is good or not will
be difficult to adjust to and feels warped. If it works for
them and keeps the game alive, great. It might not be for built
for us OG Ascend comp players.
We won't be able to join a server on the same team like the old
public servers with the way things are set up. PUG culture
definitely was around when we were playing but it's the only
thing left at this point and the small community are guarding it
closely with gameplay restrictions. I think I will dip my toes
in from time to time now that I have it set up.
PUGs (which aren't the same thing as the 'mixers') have
different restrictions. I will give them a shot.

Sharkhax and I were able to get verified after talking to the
admin named Dodge. The bot instructions are not working at the
moment afaik. You are going to need an admin to send you a
verification code.
In the sharp launcher use the options
Login Server:
Custom
tribes-wkume.centralus.cloudapp.azure.com
Login with your unverified account.
Message the server admins to get a verification code. Dodge is
extremely helpful.
When they give you a code,
Go to the store page, click redeem promotion and enter the code.
Logout and login again with your hirez credentials. You should
be verified. No 'unvrfd' prefix on your account name.
After talking to dodge for a bit he was definitely understanding
of our perspective. PUGs may be more appropriate for us than
Mixers. PUGS do not have the gun restrictions, but do have some
balance changes.
