Well, there was a ton of great information in here. Much of it
was a good refresher for ideas, and there were many new things I
had not considered before. I liked that there were so many tie
ins to learning languages - both foreign and our own. I guess
what it all boils down to is what we have all known for our
entire careers: Lecture and writing notes off the board
certainly have a place in education, but they shouldn't be the
dominant ways we instruct. There are so many cool and exciting
ways to present information and to work with kids. These
activities take more time to set up and to teach, which may be
why it seems easier sometimes to go back to a lecture/notetaking
format. But the for the benefit of our students, (and for pure
teaching enjoyment,) visually enhanced lessons are the way to
go.
