Cannot import .ive files
By: Blitzkrieg916 Date: July 2, 2011, 3:07 pm

Hello forum,
So I'm pretty new to using BuildAR, although I did mess around
with it a little in the past. I'm not sure how I did it last
time, but for some reason I'm unable to import my .ive models??
I use 3DS Max to make the models, and I use the OSGExp plugin to
export to an .ive file.
When I try to load it in my scene, nothing happens, and the
model is always the default "box.ive". It lets me change to
"hitlab.ive", but now my custom models.
I'm using the Free edition of BuildAR. I was able to load
another file type (FLT i think) but it was kind of buggy and
didn't work very well.
Anybody know what's going on?
Thanks!

Hey guys
I had the same problem + i got the solution
Finaly i decided to export using the OSG file format
to do:
After installing the exporter go to
Utilities (panel) -> More -> OSG Export toolbar
In the toolbar the third icon from the left is the "export and
save as OSG" (use it :))
don't forget to configure the exporter (attached an image with
the configuration that works for me)
Good luck
Beni

Thanks for the help Beni. Yes that's a good way to go. In the
next version we would be providing better support for file
formats such as FBX and Collada which minimize this issues when
importing from assets from Maya, Max, Blender, etc.
Thanks,
- Gabriel

hi to everybody.
I'm trying the buildAR pro demo version before buying it.
I'm having the same problem with the exporter... The old
exporter that I had used in 3ds max 9 worked fine with the old
version of buildAR, but this new one combined with 3ds max 2010
give me no result...
You say: After installing the exporter go to
Utilities (panel) -> More -> OSG Export toolbar
Could you tell me wehre is this panel? I suppose it is inside
max but I can' find it...
Are there any other version of this exporter?
Thanks you so much and excuse me for my bad english...

ok, problem solved...
I have to save my model in .osg and NOT in .ive.
.ive doesn't work at all, but .osg works fine...
To save the models in osg I tipe name.osg directly in the file
name and it works.
Hope this helps some one...

@seasonofchange, you sir, are a genius, changing from .IVE to
.OSG solved my texture issues and also the fact that the .IVE
never loaded
