       Touching the Void
       Q) Is Friendship better than self-preservation? Give reasons
       A)
We feel friendship is better than self preservation because
there is nothing worse than living with guilt for the rest of
your life. This can lead to drugs, alcohol addiction and in some
cases PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) or even suicide.
This is what would have happened in the case of Simon. He would
have to live with a scarred conscience for the rest of his life.
Plus it would have been very hard for him to explain it to Joe's
       family had he died.
However trying to save Joe, he would risk his own life and
might have died in the process. But if he emerged successful, he
would not have to live with guilt and a scarred conscience and
it would have strengthened his friendship and embed a sense of
pride into him. This would give him confidence and help him
       later on in life.
In conclusion friendship should be stronger than the self
       preservation of oneself.
