Options on board the good ship LK
She has been careened and new copper fitted, together with light
and heavy sails. No credits left.

For IG, light and reaching sails (made of flax?). Run out of
ducats.

Yes, but I'm assuming I need some for future legs - or do we get
new points after each leg?
It's going to be interesting going to windward at 65 degrees!

Despite the current winds over 18 knots, I'm going with Light
sails and some foils (thought I'd give them a crack). I assume
that they are going to have the same effect as normal, and since
we'll all be greater than 65 degrees off the wind, I hope they
will be efficient.

Carina is setting off with just light sails for this one, not
sure how much I'll be able to use them with the upwind angles of
65 degrees but in this current wind of 18 knots you can get to
160 downwind.

Good luck everyone.
I've binned the idea of foils as it just plain daft -
particularly when the graphic shows oars and don't get me
started about the anchor/warping capstan for sails!!
Ho ho and a bottle of rum to you all.
Light & heavy sails and a gleaming copper bottom.

Good luck all. Let's hope we have better luck than poor
Magellan, who was killed by natives in the Philippines:
Recognizing the captain, so many turned upon him that they
knocked his helmet off his head twice... A native hurled a
bamboo spear into the captain's face, but the latter immediately
killed him with his lance, which he left in the native's body.
Then, trying to lay hand on sword, he could draw it out but
halfway, because he had been wounded in the arm with a bamboo
spear. When the natives saw that, they all hurled themselves
upon him. One of them wounded him on the left leg with a large
cutlass, which resembles a scimitar, only being larger. That
caused the captain to fall face downward, when immediately they
rushed upon him with iron and bamboo spears and with their
cutlasses, until they killed our mirror, our light, our comfort,
and our true guide."
Keep those muskets loaded!

Ok, I've made the start and equipped with (L-R/--p) ... and
plenty of limes.
Headed off on 69 with the Code 0. It's now blowing 20.3 knts
and I'm positively screaming along at 5.9 knts through the
water. Hmmm.
