on my iPad, did it show up.
Oh well - that sailing - hope you guy are having better luck.

We on IG were pleased to get round Mark 2 ahead of B9 and CT,
and not too far behind JB. But we’ve screwed up the start of
this downwind leg and I suspect we will be behind again. Ah
well....
Bad luck, LK. I’m sure sometimes those islands emerge from the
sea just ahead of us.

I've been out for a coupe of days and relying on an Android
phone. The wind patterns are difficult to tell on those things
and you have to get the old wind speed windmill gadget out. I
hope it's better on iPhone.
I'm trying to work out if my **** to go north of Timor worked.
On the face of it my fleet position slipped a little and I lost
out to JB and Topolino but I may have lost those places either
way without Code 0 and other options - so I think if it was a
mistake it wasn't too costly (and a bit of fun!). The real
winner here was IG - great navigation.
[s]Right now I'm headed for a gap, the size of the width of my
boat, in this finger of Australia (Marchinbar Island). I'll
probably have to use waypoints to get through. Then, after a
while, gybe up to Thursday Island... simple.[/s] Change of plan
will gybe before Marchinbar as the pressure and direction looks
better to the North - I'm going to be missing those High wind
sails!

I kept an eye on several pairings Nth/Sth of Timor and it was
close but generally favoured the Sthn route by a smigen. B9
faired the worst, I suspect due to the tacks he had to make and
others on the Nthn route didn't need them. Us to the South had
a nice smooth run. Overall not much in it.
The Sthn advantage was the beam reach up to the 2nd mark that
IG made the most of.

The beam reach wouldn't have favoured those without a Code 0

Worth knowing ... and though I currently have one (Code 0)I was
caught in the middle of you (B9) and IG. IG's route, the "rhum"
line, looked great but your route to the Nth looked better which
is why I faffed around trying to get back after the 1st mark.
Wind didn't seem to materialise for you though.
Still think you taking the Polish option was better than the
Code 0.

Question: At what wind speed do your sails blow out?

About 18 knts wind speed is the swap from light to heavy sails.
I figured that most wind in these parts is <18 knots except the
odd typhoon and right now)

Hmmm ... I'm sure I've used the Light Gen in 20+ without
problems ??? Though I did wonder ...
