Yes, I'm afraid we're stuffed! Ah well, some you
lose.....Credit to those who chose the coastal route.

A lot of slow progress over the next couple of days especially
to the West - a chance for us to catch the leaders. But they
may then accelerate into the high building off Timor on Sunday
night. 2700 miles to go... I live in hope.

B9's going well and slowly clawing me back and he's making it
look effortless when compared to the constant gybes down the
coastal route. JB has me and has always had better air, which
has died by the time I arrive in the area. Still I've learned a
lot about the angle of attack (to use an aeronautical term) and
still have room to improve. Sticking with the original plane to
stick to the Sthn side of Java.

Congrats to B9 who sailed past me (literally) early this morning
... demonstrating the advantage of sailing down the triangles
hypotenuse if you can. While I've sailed 2535nm, B9 has only
sailed 2080nm i.e. I've gone 25% further and while largely
faster and in better air I'm still behind as B9's had that type
on a better point of sail.

Ah, but, it's all about the wind strength on those vectors.
JellyBean and the leaders going round the north in higher
pressure have certainly won out against the more direct route.
JellyBean has travelled 14 more miles than I and is more than
140 miles ahead.

Yes JB has always had more pressure and a more favourable point
of sail. All credit to him for spotting the opportunity. B9 I
see you're now heading NE perhaps we'll soon be in waving
distance. But you had a glorious run last night picking up about
1500 places ... v.nice.

It's gonna be close! you have more wind speed than I, so I had
to get north. With the low moving away, it looks like all the
wind is to the north for the next 48 hrs.
