Introduction

Hi Skippers
Following some interesting discussions over the last weeks, I
have created a dedicated Race Team called "Team Britpack" and
access is restricted.
I need to say at the outset, this is a place-holder and may
never be used, however if we do, then the "team" entry is ready.
Britpack Skippers could either run a second boat or simply move
from Britpack to Team Britpack for the duration of the race and
then hop back for a more relaxed race.
To be in the race team, there will be a few criteria including:
[li] skippers must be forum members[/li]
[li] agree to post, at least every couple of days during a
race.[/li]
Thats all I think we can do until we see the new VR team rules.
Feel free to post comments and ideas here.
Em

I see the restricted VR group. Seems like a great idea - that
way all the comments will be race specific

Thanks, Em. Good idea, and let's hope we can make it happen.

Good idea Em. Am fully onboard the Team Britpack concept you
have outlined.

I am interested in participating in a team for the Clipper RTW,
starting mid August 2019.
For the time being, I've joined the "Britpack" team (20 boats
now, max 50) Open
I've also found "Team Britpack" team (1 boat now, max 50)
Restricted
There is also a "Rule Britannia" team (3 boats now, max 50)
Restricted
I believe that we may need 10 boats to make a team. Are there
rules about participants in each race and the discard rules on
the scoring? In Clipper 15-16 each team could have 8 boats with
the best 5 to score in each leg. See my log
HTML http://www.satsig.net/sailing/clipper-15-16/clipper-15-16.htm
Obviously it was important to have at least 5 boats active in
each leg.
Which team should I join for Clipper RTW 19-20?
Best regards, Eric

Great to hear from you again Eric. I remember that Clipper race
well, and the Britpack teams. It would be great to see John on
RC Laser again. Can you remember all the team members? How many
of them are active in VR now? It's a very different experience
now!
Good to have you on-board and let's drive this forum to be the
"go to" for Britpack sailors. I haven't started planning for
this year's Clipper (start in August you say). I'm sure we'll
be organised for whatever format they adopt this time, all with
a little tongue in cheek, and feigned laid-back attitude.
I'm sure Emma and all of us would appreciate your help.

Hi Satsig,
Great to hear from you - yes the Britpack skippers will be
running a race team once VR publish details.

Hi Eric. Yes, we're raring to go with a Britpack team and just
awaiting the rules. I'm sure you'd be a most welcome member.
Best wishes
Rob

In reply to B9FUN: The "CLIPP1516 BRITPACK7" team for the
2015-2016 Clipper RTW involved:
Aberlady
Beowulf 1
flambouyant
Kames Bay
Lady Phyllis May
Minzapint
Mullionman
satsig.net
Snaggletooth
All were SO (Sans Options). Note that Aberlady participated in
the first races and Kames Bay substituted in later races. (9
boats in total, max 8 in each race. Top 5 in each race to score)
In the new scheme of things there appear to be many options.
I've seen LHR/fpr. I'm not sure what these mean or how much each
cost.
Are boats in our team(s) to be all the same and how do we
compare our team results with other team results?
I'm now temporarily in "Rule Britannia" team but am happy to
swap around nearer the time to make up numbers in whatever
team(s) we can get together.
I found it a bit discouraging to be all SO in 2015-16 as we
never got to be amongst the leaders, with their inherently
faster boats.
Best regards, Eric

I'm slooooowly figuring this game out, despite the lack of
clarity from VR. But I should be available for Team Britpack
should I be selected.
